Pour moi, le foyer a été un portail vers Ibagué, ses habitants, sa nature et sa culture, et j'ai eu le plaisir d'apprendre au moins autant que j'ai enseigné. J'aurais aimé rester plus longtemps, mais les frais, que je dirais élevés pour ce que vous recevez. Dans l'ensemble, une excellente expérience, et je le referais. Préparez-vous à enseigner le jour même de votre arrivée.

Je suis resté à la maison pendant un mois en septembre 2025. C'était une introduction incroyable à la Colombie et Ibague est une ville 'petite' surprenamment grande. Les activités du week-end avec Alex étaient géniales, nous avons fait de l'équitation, des randonnées et un voyage vers des cascades. Il y a 3 cours d'espagnol par semaine et Alex a beaucoup de possibilités pour des activités dans toute la Colombie. Les étudiants sont incroyables et j'ai vraiment aimé leur enseigner. C'est un programme à votre rythme, ce qui signifie que certains étudiants vont et viennent, mais je trouve que plus vous serez impliqué, plus vous et les étudiants tireront parti de vos leçons.

My experience with the home was amazing! Ibagué offers a unique opportunity to truly connect with local people and immerse yourself in the culture. The interaction with students and other teachers was incredibly rewarding. On top of that, the Spanish classes helped me a lot to improve my language skills.

I left recharged and connected to Colombian culture / lifestyle after my time at the home. The classes are easy to facilitate with the provided lesson plans. A few of the class activities were outdated and could use some updates, but in those cases it was easy to improvise by revisiting a topic the students needed additional help in. I taught classes with 2-5 students each, one class in the morning from 8-10am and one in the evening from 630-830pm. This allowed for 8 hours during the day of free time, during which I went to the gym, read, or hung out with the other volunteers.

I thought it was a good program that is well thought out and structured. The neighborhood was safe, upscale with a cool vibe. Alex is patient and easy to work with. If you get the chance visit Ibsgue you will pleasantly surprised.

Good program if you want to truly experience colombia. Ibague is a wonderful city and I really enjoyed the opportunity. the home itself has a lot of potential to be much better than it is now. It's clear nothing in the building has been maintained or updated since the place was opened ten years ago. computers and lesson plans are outdated, living quarters are not great, sometimes the whole place has no water, etc. all of this would be fine if you weren't paying to stay there, however again a little bit of maintenance and care would make it a better experience for teachers and students.

The time I've spent in Ibagué, teaching English, learning Spanish, exploring, and getting to know people has been nothing short of an amazing experience. Teaching the students has been easy due to the structure of the lesson plans as well as how nice and eager the students are to learn. Alex was a spectacular host who took the time to ensure we enjoyed our self inside and outside the classroom. I truly appreciate Alex's helpfulness and hospitality during my stay here. Everyone has been so friendly. I will miss Ibagué and all the people I met for sure! Would definitely recommend!

La casa me ayudo a desarrollar mis habilidades enseñando idiomas, así como tambien a socializar, conocer y convivir con otros extranjeros y locales. Nunca voy a olvidar esta experiencia en Colombia, estoy seguro que voy a extrañar muchisimo al equipo de trabajo, me enamore de sus arepas y paisajes a los al rededores de Ibague, se los recomiendo 100% porque tambien el Host fue muy amable conmigo en todo momento!!!!

When I landed in Colombia unfortunately I got sick and was unable to travel on the original date, but Alex was understanding about it. When I was good enough to go, he picked me up from the bus station and drove me to the home. There are two rooms upstairs with a shared bathroom. Clean and nice! Good accommodation. As for the work, it was very easy. I taught evening classes and sometimes the morning class. I enjoyed interacting with my students as well as the other volunteers, albeit if I was very shy. This experience really helped me a lot. I was comfortable and safe the whole time.

I have chosen this project because of a unique opportunity to gain teaching experience and all my work has paid off. Students have been amiable as well as eager to learn English which has made my experience truly rewarding. In addition, Alex is a friendly host who makes the planet better giving others a chance to develop. Alex also delivers Spanish classes if you wish. What's more, I had an epic adventure when visiting Salento amd Cocora valley. I've been travelling a lot so far, yet never had I seen such stunning views! Gracias, Colombia!
