My stay with Susie Ross was a true blessing. This beautiful home, nestled in the countryside, offered comfort, character, and unforgettable time with horses. I loved visiting charming Castle Douglas, learning about Susie’s culture and way of life, and meeting wonderful people. Surrounded by animals, and natural beauty, I left with treasured memories and deep gratitude. Saying goodbye was difficult looking forward to returning! If you love animals, country life, cultural experiences, and helping in a beautiful setting, I wholeheartedly recommend this experience. Five stars hardly feels enough!

Susie è una padrona di casa molto affettuosa. Le uscite a cavallo sono state meravigliose. Una vera avventura. Mi è piaciuta molto e l'ho davvero apprezzata. Susie ha una grande conoscenza della storia ed è stato molto divertente parlarne con lei. Mi ha presentato molte persone che mi hanno raccontato molto sulla vita di oggi e di ieri. I compiti erano: prendersi cura degli animali, sbrigare alcune faccende domestiche, fare la spesa. Il tempo trascorso da Susie è volato via troppo in fretta; avrei voluto restare ancora qualche settimana.

Susie è una padrona di casa molto cortese. Abbiamo apprezzato molto la sua ospitalità.
La routine consistiva principalmente nel prendersi cura dei cavalli. Abbiamo anche fatto un po' di giardinaggio, preso cura degli animali domestici e alcuni grandi progetti (dipingere le stalle e ripulire i sentieri).
Raccomandiamo una comunicazione e una coordinazione riguardo alla gestione del tempo, poiché alcuni giorni i compiti possono richiedere più tempo e questo tempo doveva poi essere adeguatamente bilanciato in altri giorni.
Abbiamo avuto molto tempo libero per esplorare i dintorni e Susie ci ha permesso di usare una macchina per spostarsi in luoghi più lontani e lei è stata sempre piena di suggerimenti e desiderosa che noi sperimentassimo ciò che la zona aveva da offrire.

Susie ci ha accolti molto calorosamente! Abbiamo lavorato con i cani e i cavalli, e abbiamo anche aiutato in altre attività come dipingere e tagliare il prato. Susie ha tutto quello di cui potresti avere bisogno e si preoccupa davvero del tuo benessere. Ci ha dato molti benefici e molte opportunità per imparare. La sua famiglia è anche molto gentile.

Second, longer stay at Susie's. I have loved my journey, I totally recommend it, and I'm thankful to her for this opportunity. Despite this, I would like to make some notes: it can happen that Susie is far from the house and you are in charge of everything. During my month there, she was away for ten days: I was safe and had good time, but I couldn't have my days-off since pets need care everyday. Second, you often get to know about her changes of plans on the very last minute and you have to be ok with that. I recommend to get in touch with Emma if you need anything when you're alone.

I had a wonderful time staying with Susie! The work was a mix of helping care for the animals and household tasks. I had lots of opportunities to go riding and could use one of Susie's cars to go on trips in my free time. She also involved me in get-togethers with her friends and family as well as local events. Would recommend to anyone looking to spend time in nature and around dogs and horses!

My first experience with Worldpacker and it was great! Susie is the best host, very generous and caring. This is the perfect place if you love animals, especially horses! Met a lot of lovely people, both neighbors and Susie's family and friends. You won't go hungry and you will laugh every day!

I had a very nice time here. Susie is a lovely person and her animals are the sweetest. The work varied from preparing food, planting flowers, mowing the lawn to feeding the chickens and helping with cleaning the nearby church. I had my own little car with which I could go on some daytrips around the area. All in all it was good experience where I could learn a lot of new things about the locals and their culture.

I felt welcomed and comfortable at Susie's. The house and the place nearby are beautiful, and you can enjoy them riding or having long walks. The job consists in what you read on the description: taking care of the animals, gardening, little housework. Day-off absolutely respected. What's more, you have the possibility to live the local life, not only with the family but also with the nice neighbours. Everyone was so kind and helpful. An experience that I absolutely recommend to anyone.

A wonderful experience that will always stay in my heart. Susie and her family were incredibly kind and welcoming. I truly felt like part of the family, as she included me in everything she did—riding with her friends, family dinners, going to the movies, shopping... It was my first WP experience, and I couldn't wish for a better one. I even mastered driving on the left side of the road, thanks to the opportunity to borrow her little blue car and explore the surroundings. If you love horses and dogs, this experience is perfect for you. I will miss Susie and all of her furry friends dearly.
