It didn't work out for me and I left the place early. The facilities are nice, most people are nice and I could adapt to the macrobiotic food. However, they struggle a lot to organise the volunteers and they push that job on top of us if it's not working. I worked way more than 35 hours per week and had to attend endless meetings and circles. I felt exhausted, that I was wasting my time, ignored when I shared it with everyone and manipulated into thinking that I had a problem (even though more people shared and felt the same). In the end, it seemed like they didn't want or needed my help.

Non è stata una buona esperienza nemmeno per noi. Sebbene Flavio sia molto gentile e volesse davvero aiutare, non era adatto alla nostra comunità.
Ad Avnø la nostra politica è che ogni volontario o team abbia un'area di responsabilità in base ai propri desideri e alle proprie capacità e poi si organizzi il proprio tempo. Molti volontari hanno lasciato Avnø sentendosi molto valorizzati, con una buona comprensione di come trovare l'equilibrio tra il lavoro, la vita di comunità e la vita privata. L'idea tutta dietro la nostra organizzazione è che vogliamo che i nostri volontari lavorino per ispirazione piuttosto che per dovere. Prendere pause quando necessario. È chiaramente indicato nel nostro infopack. Non è sempre facile all'inizio, quindi spesso hanno bisogno di un po' di supporto per trovare l'equilibrio. Flavio voleva che creassimo un orario di lavoro più fisso - per tutti, piuttosto che offrire semplicemente supporto per organizzare la propria situazione.
È anche chiaramente indicato nel nostro infopack che i volontari faranno parte della nostra comunità mentre sono qui. Flavio non era davvero fan di partecipare alle nostre attività comunitarie, quindi i nostri cerchi mattutini e cerchi di condivisione che per noi sono fonte di gioia e un punto di connessione per lui sembravano all'infinito.
Flavio può adattarsi bene in un posto con una politica e valori differenti.

It was a nice experience, the place is totally surrounded by nature and beautiful animals of the area. I enjoyed people there, I got the opportunity to learn more about macrobiotic diet, improve my skills in social media management and even in cooking meals, which is something I do like. Sometimes I just felt not in the right place, feeling the need to meet new people and explore new places, but it was not so easy since Avnø it's kinda in the middle of nowhere.

Nao recomendaria esta experiência. A vida em comunidade não é divertida e tem muito trabalho. Você fica isolado de tudo e depende de dividir os carros pessoais dos donos para ir à estaçao de trem, e paga caro toda vez que quiser usar o carro. Voce pode usar as bicicletas que eles têm, mas nao é uma pedalada muito agradavel, com muito evento e frio. A comida é bem ruim, apesar de saudavel. Você nao pode cozinhar sua propria comida e tem que comer o que é servido. A comida é a base de muitos muitos vegetais e organica. Come-se uma pouca quantidade de ovos e peixe.

Cara Alice! Ci dispiace che tu sia rimasta delusa. Siamo consapevoli che questa esperienza non è per tutti e che facciamo tutto il possibile per informare le persone su cosa aspettarsi, compresa un'intervista preliminare per evitare aspettative irrealistiche. Nella maggior parte dei casi riusciamo e ci sono persone che sentono di crescere molto durante il loro soggiorno qui e sono grate per l'esperienza. Tuttavia, di tanto in tanto non riusciamo a riconoscere le aspettative irrealistiche in una persona prima che arrivi, con il risultato che si verifica una delusione. Siamo spiacenti che tu abbia dovuto passare attraverso questo.

I have really enjoyed being part of and supporting the Avnø the eco village community. But also being supported and appreciated by the wonderful personalities in the community. In my area of responsibility, marketing, I was able to design and creatively implement many things on my own and there were no limits to my creativity. I really appreciated this and my suggestions were positively received in an open exchange within the community. Thank you for the many wonderful and intense moments and experiences in the community 💚

Tuve una experiencia muy grata en Avnø, aprendí mucho sobre colaboración y conciencia de cuidado propio a través de la comida macrobiótica. La gente es muy amable y te hace sentir acogida.

It was my first volunteering experience, I travelled with my boyfriend. The best part of the experience was the people! We created and amazing team to work and also to enjoy doing different activities (pingpong, bádminton, basketball...). Really nice relationship with both hosts, Kristiane and John, and in general with the hole community. You need to be aware that they follow a macrobiotic diet, mostly vegan, so it's important for you to know where you are going (In my personal opinion, I am not vegetarian, but for me was good anyway). It was a really nice learning experience!!!
