Ho trascorso 9 giorni in questo programma di volontariato, durante quel periodo stavamo preparando il terreno per piantare, dopo di ciò abbiamo piantato piante di pomodori, ho anche nutrito le polli, le anatre e le oche e ho potato alcuni alberi da frutto, Don Ignacio cucina molto bene e la vista dalla sua casa è molto bella, le spiagge di Castellamare sono incredibili e sono molto vicine alla casa di Don Ignacio.

I had a great time on this trip. Picking the olives was very therapeutic and was lovely to be outside all day. Learning about olive pressing was also very interesting and seeing the sites of Sicily was great, especially the hot springs! Although I wasn't learning Italian this would be a great stay to improve your language.

È stato molto bello e utile avere Ulla come volontaria da me, per raccogliere olive, aiutare in casa e preparare cibo. Ulla è una persona proattiva, molto cortese, amichevole e socievole.
Raccomanderei Ulla senza dubbio ovunque. Se decidesse di tornare, la accoglierei in qualsiasi periodo dell'anno. Buona fortuna.

The landscape of the place is beautiful! The work is hard, but it feels great to be in touch with the trees and nature around. I learned great deal about Italian culture and language! We worked 6h/day + commute, which is done by car with the host, Ignazio. He, in his own way, does not show so much appreciation for the volunteers. He has a harsh way of expressing himself. Besides, he assumed having an intimacy with me that I never gave him, and I had to stand up for myself and set real boundaries. His brother Leo and a friend Lucia are lovely people and I'm grateful they were around.

Mi fa piacere che ti piaccia il posto e che hai imparato che il lavoro in campagna è duro e l'ho spiegato molto bene. Il volontariato non è una vacanza; da me sono 6 ore per 5 giorni.
Sono una persona molto amichevole e calorosa, come tutti nel Sud Italia, specialmente in Sicilia, e condividiamo tutto quello che abbiamo. So bene che il calore umano è sconosciuto al nord ed è probabile che tu non l'abbia mai incontrato. Goditi la vita.

This was a fun adventure and I learned lots about local plants and food! I really enjoyed caring for / pruning the olive trees and harvesting olives. We also harvested some fruits and almonds! One thing that wasn't the best was the host, Ingazio, isn't super respectful of some boundaries. Although it was something that can be dealt with for short term stays :)
