Volunteering at the shelter was honestly the best thing I have ever done! Working with the animals and the staff was amazing everyone is so lovely and you feel so welcome! If you love animals and the shelter this is defo the place for you! I can't wait to volunteer at the shelter again in the future 🫶

My time at the shelter has been amazing! Met so many wonderful people and felt so welcomed the second I got here. The experience itself is very unique and if you love animals it's the experience of a lifetime! Both the staff and Thomas made sure that I had a good time and that I had everything I needed at all times. I would truly recomend this place to everyone and I really hope to be back some day! Thanks the shelter for this time!

My time at the shelter has been the best month of my life. From the staff, volunteers, animals and nature everything was perfect. Learning about and interacting with all the animals was incredible. All the staff are just like a family and were extremely welcoming and caring throughout my stay. I would highly recommend volunteering at the shelter to anyone who loves animals!

I had the most amazing time at the shelter! I met the best people (many locals and other travelers) with whom you grow really close. We did a lot of great things and learned a lot about Uganda. The hands-on experience with the animals is just something you won't find anywhere else which creates a very unique opportunity to learn and to appreciate these animals. You work in a fantastic team full of people who genuinely love all the animals and would give up anything for them. It is made sure that all of the animals have the best life possible! This is a place you won't forget!!

An Unforgettable Experience at the shelter 🌿🐾 My time at the shelter was absolutely incredible! I had the unique opportunity to work closely with wild animals, getting up close and personal with them—an experience I'll never forget. Thomas always took care of us with great affection, promptly addressing any concerns we had. The entire staff on-site showed genuine love and dedication in caring for the animals. The camaraderie among us was wonderful, filled with shared laughter and joy. I would gladly return time and again and am truly grateful for this enriching experience.

This was by far my favorite experience I have had so far. You not only get to be hands on with most of the animals but you get to learn so much in the process. The staff is so so amazing. They care so much about all the animals and are incredibly kind. Thomas is always willing to go above and beyond for everyone and is very welcoming. I can not recommend this place enough!

Great experience! Suraya, Thomas and the rest of the team were friendly and attentive. If you want to live with locals and learn about the culture I would recommend it. Although there is not much to do in Mpigi it is not a problem as you can go to Kampala which is easy to get to or do something at the shelter, you will Not Ger bored.

È stata un'esperienza unica in una zona rurale circondata da animali. Tuttavia, il cibo era terribile, e normalmente venivano forniti solo 2 pasti al giorno invece di 3, come hanno detto. Sarebbe anche utile avere una sorta di orientamento o formazione; un altro volontario mi ha mostrato la struttura e, al primo giorno, era previsto che io lavorassi all'interno delle gabbie e degli stalli degli animali, ciò che non avrei ritenuto più sicuro senza formazione o istruzioni. Il personale non era molto accogliente. La maggior parte di loro non mi parlava o sembrava infastidita quando lavoravo con loro. In generale, non è stato sufficiente e il cibo era terribile, nessuna precauzione di sicurezza, poco accogliente.

Ho avuto sentimenti contrastanti riguardo alla mia esperienza al CTC. Quando ho fatto domanda, immaginavo che sarebbe stato un progetto di conservazione della fauna selvatica, ma in realtà sembrava più un zoo privato. Vedere gli animali in recinti è stato per me personalmente un po' scoraggiante, poiché speravo in un ambiente più incentrato sulla conservazione.
L'alloggio e le strutture sono molto basilari, cosa già nota in anticipo per poterti preparare. Il cibo fornito è anche molto semplice; alcuni giorni la colazione era solo un pezzo di pane, quindi ti consiglierei di portare alcuni snack da avere con te.
