Paulo, the hostel manager, and the volunteers were all incredibly warm and friendly. Even though my Portuguese wasn't very good, thanks to their help, I was able to spend a fun and memorable month there! The work was mostly straightforward, and I had plenty of free time to explore the city. The workload was also manageable. If you're planning a trip to Lisbon, I highly recommend staying at this hostel!☺️

Host manipulated my dates—recorded as 1 day (16 till 17th).Conditions were unacceptable:rain through the ceiling onto beds,daily power cuts,bathrooms closed and foulsmelling,kitchen with zero equipment—no plates,no cups,nothing basic. I developed a skin infection requiring medical treatment.The host showed complete indifference throughout.On my last night a taxi driver became threatening—I asked the host for help and he refused to come out,leaving me alone in a dangerous situation.There was clear discrimination among the volunteer group.I left(Feb.16th-2026) for my own safety.Lisboa is 💎 Gem!

Fomos claros com os voluntários sobre os problemas causados pelas chuvas fortes em Lisboa e fizemos o possível para resolver a situação. Também deixamos claro que quem quisesse poderia encerrar o voluntariado sem prejuízo. Sobre a infecção de pele, ficamos sabendo apenas agora, pois você não informou durante a estadia. Na noite do ocorrido, você entrou no hostel às 4h30 discutindo com um taxista por falta de pagamento, acordando hóspedes e voluntários enquanto pedia dinheiro

The atmosphere of the hostel is amazing: positive, familiar and full of good energy. It was a place where I could learn a lot, develop skills, practice languages and create friendships that I will take for life. I am very grateful for this opportunity and strongly recommend it to those looking for more than just a place to stay, but rather a true experience of exchange, learning and personal growth. I would definitely come back! 💙🌍 I highly recommend it!

The coliving is an outstanding place to volunteer at. The host is incredibly easy going and generous, the manager super comprehensive and willing to help and the location is awesome. In a very touristy and lively spot in central Lisbon, everything like grocery stores, metro stations, restaurants and nightlife is within walking distance. I had an awesome time at the coliving and would highly recommend it.

Loved my experience at the coliving Co-living place! The team was committed to provide a cozy stay for the volunteers. We had our tasks organised and supervised, well planned roster and very good communication with the first in charge. All the volunteers kept à very pleasant feeling throughout the experience and it helped us connect and engage with the guests. If you are looking for language exchange, sharing beautiful stories and discovering Portugal meanwhile, this will be great option! So happy to be part of their team and thankful to all that I have experienced at the coliving🥳🥳🥳🫶🫶🫶

My volunteering at Varadas was great, for my first experience I recommend it 100%. The hostel is located in an excellent location, close to public transportation, stores, markets and the most touristic places in Lisbon. The staff team was amazing, especially Jusce who is an incredible leader, patient, respectful, friendly and always attentive to what the volunteers may need. Thank you Varadas do Chiado Family

Foi uma experiência incrível. O hostel fica em uma ótima localização, pertinho de tudo, comércios em geral, pontos turísticos, metrô etc… O hostel é super equipado, com tudo que precisamos para ter uma boa estadia. As tarefas diárias são fáceis e tranquilas. Recomendo a todos! Obrigado Paulo por todo auxílio e recepção.
