I had an amazing experience volunteering at the hostel! I worked mainly on the night shift at reception, and the tasks were pretty chill just as agreed beforehand. It was a great environment to be part of, with a relaxed vibe and supportive team. A special thanks to Rodrigo for making this experience so memorable, and to the entire the hostel staff and volunteer team. I truly enjoyed my time there and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a fun and easygoing volunteering opportunity! I will definitely come back one day!

Sono per sempre grato alle persone che questo posto ha portato nella mia vita!! L'ostello è decisamente difficile da lasciare e l'isola con la sua natura è ancora più splendida. C'è sempre qualcosa che succede, piani che si fanno, ma anche tanti posti per prendere un momento di calma da soli. Per favore porta tantissimo repellente per zanzare con te o verrai mangiato vivo :) Il mio cuore è pieno, grazie!!

Ho avuto una grande esperienza all'Hostel da Vila. Ho ricevuto compiti che mi sono piaciuti e gli orari di lavoro sono stati rispettati. Le persone erano molto accoglienti e gentili, e anche se la maggior parte non parlava inglese, le persone mi hanno comunque fatto sentire molto benvenuto. Solo buone cose da dire su questa esperienza. Lo consiglierei.

My experience in the hostel was amazing! The hostel is such a beautiful place (surrounded by forrest and 2min walk to the sea), the hostel has a great, lively energy! There is a big group of volunteers which makes it a fun experience as there always will be people to hang out with, I met amazing people there who became good friends in such a short time!The island is absolutely beautiful, if you like nature and beaches, you will love it! The team is super nice, helpful and approachable! Ricardo is super helpful and always open to receive feedback:)

The hostel is a beautiful, lively place on Ilhabela, perfect for meeting people. I volunteered in the kitchen for two months—tasks were easy, the staff was kind despite the language barrier, and I made great friends. However, the volunteer room is small, crowded, and lacks secure storage. Some of my belongings went missing, and I didn't feel the issue was handled respectfully. Also, the included “meal” is just a basic snack, not suitable for all diets. I still recommend the experience, but suggest improvements for volunteer conditions and security. Besides, the hostel has an amazing vibe!

Siamo stati solo sorpresi dal commento sulla camera, dato che avevi visto TUTTO di persona prima di accettare il progetto. Lo spazio è per 8 persone, ma c'era un volontario che dormiva con te e la stanza sua era un'altra, lasciando le valigie fuori posto, il che è andato contro l'accordo.
Chiediamo di mantenere l'ordine ogni giorno e offriamo armadietti con lucchetti che erano disponibili, ma non sono stati usati. Continuiamo a cercare di migliorare. Grazie per il feedback!

My main goal from this place was to learn Portuguese and i definitely learned A LOT during my month there mainly because of the fact that most of the staff members don't speak any english, and even with the language barrier i felt welcomed. My only problem was the volunteers room which was super moldy but they started to renovate it literally on the day that i left so not sure about it now. Working in the kitchen was fun and very easy if you have some kitchen experience. All in all would recommend, the island is amazing and the atmosphere and the hostel itself as well!

This volunteer experience was incredible! This is the biggest hostel I have stayed in. An incredible space in the middle of nature, and at the same time the center of the city where everyone can find their own cozy place. I met many amazing people and learned a lot of new things about work, perception of life, and languages. The island is very beautiful and feels good energy, but the people undeniably make this place magical. Special thanks to Gerson and the rest of the staff! the hostel is in my heart ❤️ I'll come back for sure!!

All the magic you see on socials really happens here. the hostel structure is incredible: you can do yoga classes, chill by the pool during the day and enjoy the night at the local bar. It's located in the heart of Ilhabela, with easy access to many beaches and waterfalls. Staying longer you may have different and amazing experiences like boat trips and a journey at Bonete. Last and most important point: people. There are many other volunteers there at the same time and this helps a lot elevating the whole experience, plus the hostel staff and all the guests you'll meet. Thanks!
