The Experience

We are a "glamping" campground 10 miles North of Hilo, Hawaii (on the Big Island) near the tiny farming town of Honomu and the legendary Akaka Falls on the beautiful Hamakua Coast. We live off-grid which mean we get most of our power from solar panels so we are providing an eco-friendly place to say. We need help with tasks such as laundry, housekeeping and light maintenance.

This experience was amazing, the host is really fair with the work, the stay is nice and everyone is very helpful. We were able to see a lot if the island during our freetime. I recommend this place very much!

This was one of the best travel experiences I have ever had! I will never forget my time here and all of the wonderful people I met. The property is just breathtaking and I truly felt so at home from the moment I got to the lodge house. The work is very self explanatory and simple, and it doesn't take long to complete at all. I highly recommend renting a car while you're here so that you can explore the rest of the island like we did! Mahalo to Jane and Aaron for being so welcoming and awesome. I hope to be back one day!

My time at the lodge House was something I wish cherish forever. I truly feel like I have a home in Hilo and would love to come back one day. Aaron, our manager, is always there when you need a helping hand or a friend. Jane is so kind to us and even makes delicious meals every Wednesday for us to share! Mat made sure that we knew about the local spots and had ways of getting around. I would definitely say you need to rent a car for this experience, and having a car meant we were able to see most of the island on our time off! I would recommend the lodge House to everyone. Much love.

My first worldpackers experience and it was really lit. the work is super light and there's so much time to do whatever you want, no joke on days you do have work to do it can be done before 12pm, the team here is super friendly, not much is asked of you and i have 0 complaints, i felt safe the whole time and i recommend seeing who will be traveling here and reaching out for dates so you know you have other volunteers here that's what i did we had a full team and it was great. shoutout aaron he's the manager and is cool as shit and jane the sweetest women you'll ever meet an actual angel.

This was my first work exchange and it was one of the best decisions I've made!!The work is very straightforward and easy; the managers are always available if you need help! I stayed six weeks and didn't want to leave by the end. I would definitely come back someday!! Your experience partially depends on who you're volunteering with; I came solo but this would definitely be a good one to do with a friend :) I recommend staying at least a month to see everything. You will need a rental car!! My only feedback is that there isn't reliable refrigeration for volunteers food
