Staying with Jan, Rafa, Volleys, lovely pets , couldn't have been more enjoyable. Such a peaceful and friendly place to be (perhaps the howler monkeys and roosters weren't so peaceful haha ). No really the environment and location was super chill and laid back. Helping Jan and Rafa with the garden and pets and a little bit of plumbing and cleaning was a pleasure. Flexible hours and clear communication and compromise when needed made my tasks enjoyable and rewarding. . The accomodation exceeded my expectations by far also. Six stars out of 5

The property itself is beautiful, peaceful and surrounded by nature(just a little bit dirty and it's a lot of ants) The work is light and manageable, mainly garden maintenance, sweeping leaves and cleaning the villas. Also communication with the host was difficult. Jan does not live here, and when issues came up, I often felt he strongly defended the longterm workers rather than understanding the short term volunteers. The shared kitchen could also be frustrating, as dirty dishes were often left in the sink with no one taking responsibility for them. The location is quite isolated

This is not a five-star hotel, dear Miki. Volunteers who stayed with us in the past were happy even with more basic conditions. I wish you good luck and peace.
Ants are part of the environment—we are in the jungle. If something is dirty, it can be cleaned. We understand that you volunteered partly for this.
Gabriel was responsible for the volunteers. He is usually a sweetheart and often goes well beyond his responsibilities, which also included providing you with free transportation.

House is beautiful with nice upper deck to chill. My personal space/room was very nice as well. Working hours were respected. Working tasks normal. I was helping cleaning and maintaining house and area around it. I really enjoyed my daily walks (mostly in shade) to the beach (about 20min) and further to Cahuita. Really easy to encounter lots wildlife in cahuita park ( donation based!!) and surrounding area as well. Sloths, big Iguanas, Koati, crocodiles, sea turtles, birds, frogs, monkeys, snakes, raccoons itc. Caribbean area I found really nice, chill and beautiful. Thankful .

I spent 2 weeks as a volunteer. The house has great potential, close to the sea and with great spaces. Unfortunately it is very dirty and unkempt and the owner doesn't seem to be interested. We didn't have tap water for a few days (the house's water reserve isn't proportional to the amount of people the house can accomodate). The working hours were respected but sometimes the work required may not be suitable for the volunteer. I was warned that many volunteers before me had left before the scheduled date and I don't understand why no one wrote a review. I hope the general conditions improve.

I gave 5 stars to this experience however I want to be honest so future volunteers have a good idea of what to expect upon arrival. The host in beginning can be a bit off putting but with time as you get to know him and he gets to know you he displays a lot of kindness. The work is fair and hours are respected. The property is beautiful and the host works hard to make sure volunteers have clean water to drink and gas for cooking your meals. I would come back here and feel I created a great relationship with the host. Make sure you hike the mountains, visit beaches and the national park.

My experience was really incredible! The place is very nice and the work is not difficult, Rafa is a wonderful person always available and attentive to your needs as well as very good company. The beach is 3 km away and can be reached either on foot or by bus, very nice! I am happy with my experience, thank you very much

This place has set the bar very high in my opinion. The house and the owners are wonderful. The stay was great, and after three weeks it almost felt like home.

It was our first volunteering experience, and we couldn't imagine a better start. Rafa, who takes care of the villa, is a really nice and warm person. Even with the language barrier, he was kind and patient with us. Jobs weren't hard, gardening, sanding, and painting. We were happy to have a private room with a bathroom, and the kitchen area was equipped with everything you needed. Garden was a paradise. Cahuita was about 4km away, we recommend renting bicycles. I am grateful for this experience. Thank you very much.

It was a nice experience at the finca. We worked exactly 3h/day -1day off- and the tasks were varied and tailored to the person. Rafa is the one who live in the finca and building it, he give us as well the work. he was very nice, showed us everything about garden, construction and support us with his organic food that grows in the garden. Jan was not there but he was very responsive, whenever there was a question. After work you can do what you want, the beach is close and the jungle behind the finca. There are also cute cats and dogs on the finca. We will defenetly recomment to work here
