Spending time and teaching english to the kids was really fun. There were two groups. The second one was a bit bigger with 10-15 kids, so we were glad there were two of us, so we could handle the group better and split them in two if necessary. We had totaly freedom in how and what to teach. the eco village and his family were really welcoming and gave us there house for the whole three weeks, which is really simple but has everything you need. On the weekends we were able to explore the nature around the community. You have to cook your own food, which you can buy in the next city one hour away.

Danke an euch alle, dass ihr von so weit hergekommen seid, um den Kindern in der Gemeinde zu helfen. Wir leisten ebenfalls Freiwilligenarbeit, deshalb nehmen wir die Freiwilligen in unser Haus auf, um den Kindern zu helfen.

It was a good, interesting and immersive experience. You teach in the community (20-25min to walk) and in the family's house. Teaching in the community was quite challenging for me because some kids aren't very motivated. But teaching the kids of the family &their neighbours was fun. I recommend bringing some paper & pencils with you. If you want to make an activity with the host, make sure how much you have to pay, there was some confusion. Every day I ate with the family & could experience their simple way of living. Nelly & the whole family were very caring & I learnt a lot of Spanish :)

I really enjoyed my time at the project! The only issue for me was that we lived far away from the project and internet was scarce, therefore communicating was a bit of a difficulty at times, yet we spoke with the host in great length about this problem. I will never forget about the children at the school and the teaching was by far my favorite part of the exchange! I also thank the project for the fantastic tours we had! Unforgettable!

This experience was amazing. I really loved teaching the kids and getting to know them. We got a house to live in and there was three other volunteers in the house with me, it was perfect because we really helped each other out with the different tasks. Our host took us on some really beautiful hikes and we sometimes ate with him and the family. It was hard to say goodbye to all the kids in the end and to the beautiful jungle. But I will recommend people going here it's a really good experience ✨

I came here thinking about just the kids and teaching them english. But leaving them , was probably the hardest thing. i cried and we cried and it's all love . and i'm going to come again because they are not just people who live in the amazon who need help to me. They my friends and they treat me like family and i'm going to come here again. I made connections that i never thought of making. especially because i'm not the best spanish speaker but they bare with me and tried to teach me their native language but the pronunciations are crazy. and if you decide to come here , come with an open~

Danke, geschätzte/r, für Ihre Erfahrung in unserer Gemeinschaft. Die Idee ist, dass Freiwillige Teil unserer Familien werden. Wir, zusammen mit dem Gastgeber, engagieren uns ebenfalls ehrenamtlich, um Freiwillige zu empfangen und zu koordinieren, dass die Kinder am Unterricht teilnehmen; die Idee ist zu helfen.

That was an immersive experience to go in this place, I had to teach English and French to a group of kids for 2 weeks and it was my first time doing that, I'm glad I went through this opportunity who happened to be both amazing and tough.. Haha, a great challenge, and also to express myself in Spanish! the eco village and his family were really nice people, a pleasure to meet them and to learn more about another culture! I get inspired by new ideas and lifestyle now :)

Our experience was good. We arrived around 7:30 pm, so it was dark. the eco village changed the arrival location last minute, however, the new location was 25 minutes walk from the original place. the eco village and Nelly welcomed us in a very gentle manner, they even clocked something for us. The place where we stayed was not the best, an unfinished house with no covering on the windows and opening on doors, so all type of insects were able to come in. Nevertheless, we found a way to make the place feel like home (thanks to Elisabet). The outdoor shower was good! The kids are nice and we enjoyed teaching them

Meine Erfahrung im Amazonas war großartig. Die Leute, die Natur und die Kinder waren wunderbar. Ich habe viel von der Pachacutik-Gemeinschaft gelernt. Und du solltest fühlen, wie das Leben dort jenseits davon war.
Leider konnte ich nicht länger bleiben. Aber es war Freiwilligenarbeit, die mir für immer in Erinnerung bleiben wird.

Ich wurde von der Familie sehr herzlich empfangen und dachte sofort: wow, ich bin im Amazonasgebiet. Nachdem ich ein paar Tage zu Hause verbracht hatte, machten wir uns auf den Weg in die Gemeinschaft, wo ich bei einer anderen Familie unterkommen konnte. Diese Familie war auch sehr herzlich und ich konnte eine schöne Verbindung zu den Kindern aufbauen.
Anschließend gab ich mehrere Englisch- und Sportunterrichtsstunden an verschiedene Altersgruppen, zwischen 8 und 14 Jahren. Für mich war das eine Herausforderung, da mein Spanisch-Niveau grundlegend war, aber ich bin sehr glücklich, die Herausforderung angenommen zu haben, denn ich habe sehr viel gelernt und sowohl vom Team als auch von den Kindern sehr positives Feedback erhalten.

Es war eine schöne Erfahrung für mich, sie mit der Familie von Yacu und Nelly zu teilen, mich in ihren täglichen Aufgaben zu engagieren, bei der Arbeit mit den Pflanzen zu helfen und von den Handarbeiten zu lernen, die Nelly und die Kinder herstellen. Der Amazonas ist ein schöner Ort und man lernt viel von seinem Volk. Obwohl das Häuschen noch im Bau ist, hatte ich meinen eigenen Platz in einem Zelt im Haus. Das Schwierigste für mich war das Badezimmer, da die Dusche direkt im Fluss liegt.. Trotzdem konnte ich die Zeit genießen und viel mit der Familie teilen. Sehr dankbar.
