My stay at the guest house was pretty decent. The scenery and the locals were great. Sean was also a decent host. The other volunteers were very kind and the atmosphere was good.

My experience that the guest house was very positive, even though it was my first volunteer experience. The facilities is beautiful and the work is demanding but it depends on how many volunteers are on hand at the time. The island atmosphere, along with the volunteers warmth, makes the experience truly enrichment. I highly recommended it! Sean is kind, sometimes he struggles to trust but when he does the work is enjoyable. He was also understanding with me regarding the language barrier a special manager Monica and the new manager Adriana who made my stay very pleasant and filled whit love

The Lodge offers great voluntary job oportunities on a remote Irish island, where working hours are fair and the owner is generous with providing rooms, food, car rides and bikes. I was able to take over a more responsible job than planned and I liked that very much. The owner wants things to be done in his way - fair enough, it's his place. And he listens if people are suggesting changes. He knows a lot about the island, its history and former culture and shares that with the volunteers.

Thank you Monika for your kind words. We have been working with Worldpackers for many years. We have had many wonderful reviews over the years. We would like that to continue!. We appreciate and love the energy and vibrancy that they all bring. I will continue to evaluate my own role and also what we offer so that participants will continue to benefit well from the experience with us.

Week 1 was fine, 2 was horrendous, and by 3 I was mostly numb. The experience is shaped by Sean who is meticulous, cold, and lacking in compassion. Despite his generosity, I frequently felt micromanaged and spoken down to. This is a job, not volunteering. You work nonstop during shifts, cannot talk to other volunteers, and have little autonomy. I often felt more like an indentured servant than a volunteer. I'm glad I experienced the island and the locals, I'd recommend staying a week and moving on. Also, many positive reviews are from when Brenda was manager; she is no longer there.
