Castello di Ristonchi

Do you want to experience living in a castle in the Tuscan hillside and being a part of a multicultural community, then this is the place that you need to be!

Every year we welcome people from all over the world to come and help out at the castle. During the months from April to October we are hosting events and weddings, where people from all over the world gather to celebrate in our beautiful castle.
In the fall months we are super busy harvesting all of our olives and making olive oil!
We have many different tasks that need to be done, almost all year around!

Our focus is to live a simpler life in a community setting surrounded by nature. To get away from the stress and the consumerism and get back to the earth and the love. To build, to learn and to create. We try to be as self-sustainable and waste-free as possible! We welcome any help and tips from you.

We need some volunteers at a time so there is plenty of opportunities to make friends. We also have different tasks and we hope that you don't mind doing and learning a little bit of everything. We are a 20-30 minute walk from the nearest bus and shop. If you do not have a car we can pick you up at the nearest bus stop.

I did not enjoy my stay here. The staff were nice, but the hosts were unengaged and unfriendly. They were not involved at all. The living accommodations were dirty and cramped. I felt dirty the entire trip and didn’t like being in my room.

I had a satisfying experience volunteering here. I was warmly welcomed and embraced a different routine than I'm used to, which was one of the reasons I chose to come here. The tasks were straightforward, and we received adequate instructions. Communication could have been slightly better at times, but efforts were made to improve it while I was there. The other volunteers also contributed to making the experience memorable. Overall, the experience was very good.

Mi experiencia es Castello di Ristonchi fue hermosa, el lugar es súper tranquilo y me dio la posibilidad de conocer a muchas personas increíbles. Al estar un poco alejado de todo, invitaba a disfrutar de la calma y la belleza del lugar. En cuanto al equipo, todos fueron muy atentos y simpáticos, lo cual me hizo sentir más que cómoda. Espero poder volver alguna vez 💓

My stay at the castle was an amazing and unforgettable experience. A stay in Ristonchi guarantees the opportunity to see the most beautiful sunrises and sunsets you can imagine! I was there off-season, so there were few volunteers, but it allowed us to get to know each other better.
The work was quite easy and working hours were respected. It is possible to maneuver working hours if necessary. This place, the atmosphere and the people who live in the castle, make you want to stay here forever. Thank you for this beautiful experience! 😊

The experience of staying at Ristonchi is incredible! I visited in the Winter off-season so there weren’t many other volunteers, but it made for a more personal and close experience with the other volunteers. I’d recommend the experience to anyone interested in seeing Tuscany.

The owners of the castle are very hands off with the worldpackers so I didn’t see much of them (only introduced once). However, the staff (Marco, Christina, ect…) are great and very easy going. Likely due to the time I visited the work itself was quite easy and really only 9:30-2 with a coffee break.
