Castello di Ristonchi

Do you want to experience living in a castle in the Tuscan hillside and being a part of a multicultural community, then this is the place that you need to be!

Every year we welcome people from all over the world to come and help out at the castle. During the months from April to October we are hosting events and weddings, where people from all over the world gather to celebrate in our beautiful castle.
In the fall months we are super busy harvesting all of our olives and making olive oil!
We have many different tasks that need to be done, almost all year around!

Our focus is to live a simpler life in a community setting surrounded by nature. To get away from the stress and the consumerism and get back to the earth and the love. To build, to learn and to create. We try to be as self-sustainable and waste-free as possible! We welcome any help and tips from you.

We need some volunteers at a time so there is plenty of opportunities to make friends. We also have different tasks and we hope that you don't mind doing and learning a little bit of everything. We are a 20-30 minute walk from the nearest bus and shop. If you do not have a car we can pick you up at the nearest bus stop.

Ristonchi is beautiful! The work is fair and easy and on days off you can visit Florence. You have plenty of time also to explore by going on walks, bike rides, and simply enjoying the amazing views from the look out which I always had breakfast or my coffee at. The fellow volunteers and staff were wonderful. Big shout out to everyone who made me feel welcomed. I hope to pass through Tuscany again and see the castle.

I did social media for Ristonchi so my experience may differ.

I loved my time at Ristonchi. I watched a many beautiful sunsets, met great people, made new friends and left with a new business. I spoke to the hosts on a few occasions and they were both very welcoming & considerate. Stephanie was especially supportive of my new business idea. The other volunteers were a joy to be around, and the work didn't feel like work to be because I enjoyed it so much. Christina the event manager made the experience especially great, she was so welcoming.

The volunteer accommodation needs improvement.

Castello is located on top of a hill which makes it a beautiful place with a great view, once you get down the hill you have the bus stop that takes you to town. However my experience was not as expected, it seems as the management of the place seeks to obtain free labor, once you read the add it seems that you will be sleeping in the Castle where instead is a house at the back, very dark and with much need for maintenance. It is a pitty because the place and staff working there are very very nice.

Had such a wonderful time at the castle! Full of amazing people, the volunteers, staff and management were all great. The food was incredible, as much as you wanted really. Not much to do in the local area but go on long walks, or visit the tiny tiny town nearby. Accomodations were a bit rough but it was really not a big deal. Plus there was a big terrace area where you could watch the sunset over tuscany. Lots of wine, tiramisu, good vibes all around.

Mi experiencia fue buena en general y conocí a gente increíble de diferentes partes del mundo. Respecto al dueño del castillo, en mi opinión, no le gustan los voluntarios, solo los tiene porque le representan menos gastos. Nos limitó mucho, no le gustaba que nos vieran para nada los huéspedes. Los voluntarios estábamos apartados en una pequeña casa donde éramos 10 personas con un solo baño. Tengo que decir que el equipo del staff son lo mejor, muy buenas personas y tratando de siempre de integrarnos lo más que pueden. La comida muy buena durante época de bodas, pero se vuelve repetitiva.
