Gaarawe

The present project aims to establish a community based on the economy of sufficiency, capable of producing food and essential goods for both internal consumption and providing hospitality to visitors. The community will operate in harmony with living beings and the surrounding environment. It will exist both in a virtual sense, as a network for exchanging information and contacts, and in a real sense, fostering human and commercial relationships with a shared commitment to living in a place where the "meaning of life" is based on empathy and the symbiosis of Man and Nature.

To strive to transcend the chaos of places ravaged by concrete and battered by the economic and social system of globalized capitalism, it is necessary to foster a culture of shared responsibility. The promotion of a society built on "duties before rights," empathy, and respect for fellow humans and Mother Earth is essential.

We have some wonderful itineraries of uncommon places to visit: caves, waterfalls, trekking, canoeing, big tree, fascinating temples, hot springs, the largest dam, and our beautiful river where we cool, we swim, and fishing.
Walking in the forest, in January, the Rataflesia , a flower, the largest in the world that was born only here.
This is the most primitive forest of the planet

Volunteers and residents live under the same conditions together as we prepare the day's program. Every day we dedicate ourselves to routine maintenance: we feed the chickens and the dogs, water the garden and collect fruit and vegetables to eat together. Sometimes we make jams or canned fruit for our breakfast.

I had an amazing experience at Gaarawe & I highly recommend this for anyone looking to connect with nature & learn about permaculture. The village is an absolutely beautiful place & it was great to stay in your own private hut. The work is fun & relaxed but it does get very hot. There is plenty of time to explore the nearby area & discover amazing nature. Lele is a great host & is very accommodating to any needs

Honestly best thing I have ever done. This was my first time volunteering and everything about this experience exceeded my expectations. The people I volunteered with were very welcoming. The work was very rewarding and not that demanding. There was a perfect balance between work and fun.

My time in Gaarawe was phenomenal and I had lots of fun building and doing gardening. Lele is a very funny guy, with a lot of stories to tell and a big passion for Permaculture. His dream to build a community in the middle of nowhere and try to reduce/eliminate consumerism is quite inspiring and interesting. I would definitely go back one day. The people I met there were AMAZING and I will miss a lot the dogs :(
Thanks for everything!

Absolutely loved the experience, met loads of amazing people and learned so much. Accomodation is in huts that were built by other volunteers and they can get pretty hot which takes a while to get used to but are fairly comfy overall.
Food was also really good but a lot of spices which I wasn't really used to but still enjoyed it. Would highly recommend gaarawe to anyone wanting a social experience where you can see the impact your work has.

Unfortunately i cannot recommend this experience. I ended up leaving early because it was not as described. When i was there, they trial ran families and it felt more of a tourist place than permaculture farm. Also the farm has been running for years and only now have they started growing vegetables. It was barely permaculture. Furthermore the Italian man who runs it only really speaks to the Italian volunteers.

Khao Sok is such a lovely place and the other volunteers were lovely.

NIce tw start!!!

As soon as you arrived you said you would stay for a few days and then come back later!
So you've put yourself in the shadows without even being interested in participating.
You said you would come back and we confirmed the hut again, then you cancelled.
For you it was an opportunity to learn an extraordinary language like the Italian language, but I also speak minimally various languages, this can be learned if you wish.
In any case, we listen to criticism and try to organize ourselves to change communication.
Learn one thing in permaculture you don't run away from problems they solve them.
Another lesson: permaculture is not just vegetable gardens, if you stayed you could ask questions and learn, you preferred to stay on the internet for the entire short period.
You are always welcome to start your experience as I have already written.
To judge you need to be part of it. You have postponed your participation.
With love
lele
