Green Tortoise Hostel

Seattle is a great place, full of fun cafes and cool funky bars, and a thriving music scene. On your 3 days off a week you can explore mountains to the Islands.

You will work 20 hours a week usually in 5 hour shifts. Winter we ask for a 4 week minimum, and summer a 8 week minimum. In exchange you get all the same privileges as a guest. A clean safe place to sleep and free all you can eat breakfast 7 days a week. On top of our Sunday free dinner for the entire house, there are staff dinner available everyday. I truly enjoyed my experience at Green Tortoise. I got to meet and work alongside really friendly people - management team and trade workers. The working hours were respected as agreed upon and it's nice that I got the opportunity to perform various tasks in different areas. I personally felt they were challenging and though it was quite a learning experience.
The location of the hostel is ideal and it allows for a truly immersive time in the best of Seattle.
I feel nothing but gratitude for the quality time I spent at Green Tortoise and I would highly recommend it to anyone.

Going into this trade worker position I didn't know what to expect, as I had never done it before. At first I was a bit overwhelmed with the tasks, but soon adjusted and began to actually enjoy the work. Within a week, I felt part of the team and I looked forward to working. The staff here is so welcoming and really respect you and your concerns. They work with your schedule and communicate what they need and expect from you. I had planned to stay a bit longer but had to head back home for some family commitments. I will miss everyone and would definitely do this again. Thanks GT Seattle

I loved my experience here! The staff are incredibly friendly, the hours are super flexible and they’re always willing to work around your schedule.

The housekeeping tasks were very fair, and there’s always a helping hand around if you have any questions or concerns - I couldn’t recommend this place more

I enjoyed spending another summer at the GT! The management team is made up of really kind and understanding people who make it a great place to work. And the location is perfect, whether you’re into nature or nightlife, everything is super close by. The hostel is right near all the main attractions and public transit, so it’s a great place to be.
Highly recommended to anyone who’s interested and wants to see more of Washington.
