If someone is looking for a small, relaxed, family-type environment - then this would be the place for them. While we don't live on the premises, The Beehive is our home. We want our guests to feel like they are staying in the home of a friend in Rome. We start out trusting and respecting everyone who walks through our doors and we hope you will trust and respect us and our place in return. We are not a party hostel, but we are sociable and while we are not always around, we are always accessible. We like to provide great information (or the tools to get that information) to our guests and a cozy, clean and peaceful atmosphere. We are looking for someone who needs a place to live in exchange for reception, caretaking and cleaning and giving us a helping hand. It is also very important to socialize and spend time with our guests.
My husband and I are Americans who moved to Rome in 1999 and started our hostel, The Beehive. We own and operate the hostel ourselves along with our long-time staff member and manager, Yuli. We do have a cleaning person, Lea, but she does not work on weekends. My husband and I are friendly and informal but we are professional and take what we do seriously and we are very protective of our hostel. Since 2020, we also have another business making bagels which we run out of the hostel.

I had an amazing time at the Beehive! What a special place, the working hours are super fair and the flat is so well located with supermarkets around and a walking distance away from all the touristic sites. I met so many amazing people and I’ll definitely return! Don’t hesitate in volunteering in this place, you won’t regret. Linda, Steve and Yuli were great hosts!

Wonderful experience! The Beehive feels more like a home than a hostel; Linda and the team have created a truly unique place and always made me feel like family. The duties were very reasonable, and the team was always patient and helpful with mistakes and questions. Although the hours were not long, I spent much of my free time at the hostel because it was such a great environment. I highly recommend this experience, especially to anyone interested in more than just a volunteering position but an opportunity to be an integral part of what makes the Beehive great.

It's an amaizing place to volunteer, the host, Steve and Linda are amaizing people ,I do encourage everyone to perform voluntering and have amaizing expiriences ! The beehive is for far the best place I have been!

Thank you so much Steve and Linda for this beautiful experience. I stayed for two months at The Beehive, such an enlightened place, with a cozy atmosphere, so organized and clean. My roommates, both volunteers, became friends I am taking for life. It is the perfect opportunity to meet people from all around the world in a calm environment, so culturally rich with the cooking classes, the chess, even the yoga mats if you like to practice. I heartily recommend this experience, and I hope the next volunteers have such lovely memories and friends all over the world. The Beehive is HOME ❤️🥰

My experience at the beehive has been the most incredible experience I have ever had. Steve and Linda are truly amazing people. This was my first time away from home and first time in Europe and the beehive quickly became my home.
The work was clearly outlined and very manageable.
I was able to meet people from all over the world and create friendships that I hope will last a lifetime.
The space at the beehive is comfortable and has a very home like feel to it. The bagels are amazing and the pickles also.
Yuli is also an incredible worker here, who helped me learn so much.
Unforgettable .
