Detalhes
Your time with us is a non-monetary exchange of organic homemade food, quality accommodation and knowledge-sharing for your focused and enthusiastic labour: preserving food, gardening, composting, chicken care, and guesthouse cleaning. We are particularly looking for volunteers who will find our sustainable lifestyle practically useful for their own future.
We offer our volunteers the Cherry Tree caravan in the back of the garden next to a private outdoor composting toilet and solar shower.
While you are at The Tamarind Tree it is an opportunity to learn. Please come with a spirit of inquiry and passionate exchange, we are here to impart our knowledge of nature and permaculture. You should expect the tasks to be physical, sometimes hard, sometimes dirty and dusty, and sometimes not very glorifying but it is all about being more responsible and having a smaller carbon footprint on this beautiful planet.
Atividades & Turnos
We work in the mornings, sometimes together and sometimes on individual projects. Breakfast is taken before starting. We share our homegrown lunch together - then the rest of the day is yours. If you stay on the homestead, we bring you dinner - as currently right now we are a mess in the evenings with the baby! During your stay we will discuss the off days - all depending on how long you stay and our own schedule. Our volunteers usually bike to the local town to the bakery and local bar to meet the locals and practice their French or go into the forest.
We only take one volunteer at a time (and only one per month), you'll be given the space to communicate with nature. Every day we will give you tasks that you can do and complete based upon your skills. You should be ready and capable to do hard physical work such as pushing wheel barrels, using shovels, hoes, and pitchforks.
It is our job to give you a task that should be completed in the five hours of the day. Some people are slower - so they finish up the task in the afternoon - and some people are faster and either enjoy the rest of their day or pickup another activity. After that, you will have access to our electric bikes to explore our forest and rivers.
Regras
This is a non-smoking and no drugs household. Smokers usually walk back into the fields to smoke. We only take one volunteer at a time, so please respect the agreed upon arrival dates. As our volunteer - this is an exchange of dedicated work for food and housing but especially our time to explain and share our life with you - so the more energy you put into this exchange the more willing we will be to share with you. We are a no debate household - which means respectful conversations are all welcome but stop before it becomes an argument. Please try to use this time to also disconnect from your phone - you are welcome to use it for research and photo purposes but please do not use phones otherwise during our working hours or during social moments with our family.
We welcome and respect all 🌈 and you should too.
