Detalhes
This program welcomes travelers who want to combine cultural immersion, meaningful volunteering, and education in Tanzania. As a volunteer, you will support English learning and community education through engaging activities such as conversation practice, reading, games, creative lessons, and educational discussions.
No professional teaching qualification is required—what matters most is patience, enthusiasm, responsibility, and a genuine interest in helping others learn. You will work alongside the local community, adapting activities to learners’ needs and creating a positive, encouraging environment.
Your experience goes beyond volunteering. During your free time, you will have the opportunity to discover the natural beauty of Morogoro and experience authentic Tanzanian culture. You can hike in the spectacular Uluguru Mountains, explore local communities, and, depending on your schedule, arrange a visit to Mikumi National Park for an unforgettable wildlife safari.
This is an ideal experience for travelers, students, educators, and anyone who wants to exchange knowledge, connect with local people, explore Tanzania, and make a meaningful contribution while creating memories that go far beyond a typical holiday.
Atividades & Turnos
Daily Activities & Shifts – Teaching English & Community Education
The volunteering schedule is designed to give you a meaningful teaching experience while still allowing plenty of time to explore Morogoro and Tanzania. Activities may vary depending on the learners’ needs, school/community schedules, and the volunteer’s skills and interests.
🌅 Morning Shift
* Prepare simple and engaging English lessons with guidance from the local host.
* Support learners with basic English vocabulary, pronunciation, reading, writing, and conversation.
* Conduct interactive activities such as storytelling, educational games, songs, and group discussions.
* Encourage learners to practice speaking English in a relaxed and supportive environment.
* Help learners build confidence, communication skills, and interest in education.
☀️ Afternoon Shift
Depending on the daily schedule, volunteers may:
* Assist with English conversation practice and homework.
* Support small-group learning or one-on-one activities.
* Organize creative educational activities, reading sessions, quizzes, and learning games.
* Share knowledge about their own country and culture as part of cultural exchange.
* Help prepare educational materials and improve future lessons.
* Participate in community education activities when available.
🕐 Typical Volunteer Schedule
Volunteers generally contribute around 4–5 hours per day, 5 days per week, with the exact timetable agreed upon with the host. The schedule is flexible enough to allow volunteers to rest, work remotely, socialize, or explore the area.
🌿 Free Time & Exploring Morogoro
When volunteers are off duty, they are encouraged to experience the surrounding area. Depending on availability and personal interests, you can:
* Hike in the beautiful Uluguru Mountains.
* Explore Morogoro town and nearby communities.
* Experience local Tanzanian food, traditions, and everyday life.
* Arrange a visit to Mikumi National Park for a wildlife safari.
* Join other cultural or nature-based activities available in the area.
The goal is to create a balanced experience where volunteers teach, learn, explore, and connect—not simply complete working hours. You will have the opportunity to contribute your skills while gaining genuine insight into Tanzanian community life.

Additional Rules & Expectations
To ensure a safe, respectful, and rewarding experience for both volunteers and the local community, we ask all volunteers to follow these guidelines:
* Respect the community: Treat local people, children, families, and other volunteers with kindness, dignity, and respect. Be open-minded toward Tanzanian culture, traditions, and different ways of life.
* Be responsible: Arrive on time for agreed teaching sessions and communicate in advance if you are unable to attend.
* Positive attitude: Teaching requires patience, encouragement, and flexibility. Please create a friendly environment where learners feel comfortable making mistakes and asking questions.
* Child safeguarding: Volunteers must maintain appropriate professional boundaries with children. Never use physical punishment, intimidation, inappropriate language, or behavior.
* Photography & privacy: Do not photograph or record children or community members without permission. Do not share personal information, photos, or videos of learners on social media without proper consent.
* Teaching approach: Focus on encouragement rather than criticism. Adapt lessons to different learning levels and avoid assuming that all learners progress at the same pace.
* Cultural exchange: We encourage volunteers to share their language, culture, and experiences while also taking the time to learn from the Tanzanian community.
* Dress appropriately: Wear clean, respectful, and culturally appropriate clothing, especially when teaching or participating in community activities.
* Keep the environment clean: Help maintain a clean and organized teaching area and respect the host’s property and shared spaces.
* Communication: Maintain open communication with the host. If you have concerns, suggestions, or difficulties, discuss them early so they can be addressed.
* Independence & free time: Volunteers are free to explore Morogoro during their time off, but should inform the host about plans that may affect the agreed schedule.
* Alcohol & drugs: Illegal drug use is strictly prohibited. Alcohol should be consumed responsibly and never before or during teaching or community activities.
* Respect local laws: All volunteers are expected to comply with Tanzanian laws and regulations throughout their stay.
* Adaptability: Community programs can change depending on circumstances. Volunteers should be flexible and willing to adjust activities when necessary.
Above all, we expect volunteers to come with an open heart, a willingness to learn, and a genuine desire to make a positive contribution. This is a cultural exchange as much as it is a volunteering opportunity—you will share your knowledge, but you will also learn from the people and community around you.
