O tempo na casa foi muito agradável. A região é muito bonita. Trabalhar com as cabras foi divertido e desafiador. Os cães são muito amigáveis e carentes. Também trabalhamos cortando arbustos e ervas com a roçadeira para limpar alguns terraços da fazenda. A anfitriã nos explicava como fazer o trabalho, além de ensinar sobre o histórico da área, incêndios, drenagem, cuidados com as cabras e coisas gerais da fazenda. A comida estava ótima, e é bom levar alguns lanches, principalmente pro fim de semana.

I have been on the farm for 3 weeks and it met my expectations and exceeded them. The farm itself is excatly what I wanted to experience from "farm life", althought I didn't know what to really expect. There are 18 beautiful goats, each with different and unique personalities and you learn very much about them, their habits and way of life. The dogs are really friendly and the food was delicious. Rachel the host is really amazing woman and I am grateful to have had the opportunity to learn so much from her. The tasks were clear and very well communicated. I would reccomend it to everyone.

To stay in Rachel's farm is to be in touch with nature on its rawest and purest form. The location is beautiful, the views to Douro valley are breathtaking and the goats are simply the most gorgeous and intelligent beings! I learned so much from them. The food (as you can confirm in other reviews) is something out of this world!! Always yummy and nutritious. Sharing these 2 weeks with Rachel has taught me so many important lessons about womanhood, humanity, sustainability, world, politics. She's an incredible kind human. I feel lucky to have crossed paths with her and her project.

Increíble la experiencia que tuve en la granja de Rachel. Ella es una mujer que se preocupa por sus animales, la naturaleza y lo que consumimos como alimentos. Tiene un gran proyecto, y fue muy grato poner mi granito de arena en ello. Las tareas son sencillas, sacar por las mañanas a las cabras puede ser un reto los primeros días pero después se hace muy llevadero. Son grandes animales, inteligentes y muy bellas. Las comidas abundantes y deliciosas 😋 Sin duda recomiendo este voluntariado para concertar con la naturaleza, con uno mismo y con un gran ser humano como lo es Rachel.

My time at farm with Rachel was truly special. Rachel is an incredible host, our conversations went far beyond small talk and I learnd so much from her perspective on life, land and community. She has a way of making you feel like part of something meaningful. The food deserves every bit of praise you will read in other reviwes :D Honestly it exceeded my expectations. I already miss the farm (especially Hanz). Thank you Rachel, for everything🤍

Like landlady Rachel said, accommodation is basic, but you'll get used to it. Highly recommend! Every morning you herd sheep up the hill and down by 11am. Sitting with them listening to them munching grass is perfect ASMR. There are two sets of twin lambs—the boy twins are my absolute favourites! Their wool is so soft, they'll lean against you, and each has a unique personality. Volunteering here means checking and treating them for illnesses. It's deeply rewarding but emotional; your heart breaks when they get sick, though it teaches you about the cycles of nature.

I had an amazing time! The food we got, the view we had, and the work we did all came together to create a well-rounded adventure. I'd absolutely visit a second time. The only thing to be aware of in advance is that if you're over 1.80 m tall, you might hit your head on the doorframe. If you're on the fence about going, go! You will have an unforgettable experience.

Spent two great weeks here! The tasks were very diverse, ranging from goat care and herding to using tools like a chainsaw and a trimmer for the first time, as well as working with cement. All tasks included proper training, and there was always enough time to get comfortable with the tools. It is a farm so there are always enough projects going! The food is VERY good and Rachel made sure we wouldn't be left hungry (me and my friend both eat A LOT in general). It is in a remote location, so I'd especially recommend this experience to someone who enjoys nature and spending time outdoors.

At Quinta de Granja, you can be sure that you will learn a bunch of things about how it is to own a land, about goats, nutrition, the ecosystem in Portugal and many more since the owner, Rachel, loves to teach about her experiences. The place is incredibly magnificent with a huge view on the Douro Valley and you wake up every morning to it while taking the goats out. We loved the lifestyle, morning is usually 3hours of chilling with the goats. Then you get 2-3 hours break, and after you do 3 more hours of more manual work on the farm. The food was healthy, yummy, and came in big portions.

Rachel is an amazing host. Food she made for us was really good. Working hours are reasonable and we had a lot of time to relax. I recommend this experience for everyone that is searching for true farm experience.
