Spectacular scenery and great relaxed atmosphere
A experiência
We are a small independent hostel in the stunning Loch Ness region of the Scottish Highlands. We have 43 beds, a great bar with over 30 Scottish beers, and a really friendly atmosphere. We LOVE having volunteers come and work with us, and being part of our hostel family for a few weeks or months, and our online reviews demonstrate just how important the team is to our reputation. But they all seem to love being here too, so we're thrilled!

Detalhes
To give you an idea of what you'd be doing if you come to join us, our team works hard but also really enjoys living and working here. (In fact, they keep leaving and then coming back again!) They work a 30-hour week, split into 5 shifts a week. Some of the shifts are busy and hard work, others are more relaxed. But they're all fun - if our volunteers are enjoying themselves, the guests will too.
Volunteers live on-site in a 4-bed staff dorm at the back of the property, they have their own staff kitchen, and they can do their laundry in the main washing machine and dryer. We provide a kitty which covers most food costs for the week; usually the staff take it in turns to cook meals for one another but that's up to you.
Volunteers tell us that their favourite things about staying at our hostel are:
1. The amazing scenery
2. The relaxed pace of village life
3. The great team atmosphere
Atividades & Turnos
For volunteers staying for 8 weeks or more, the duties are divided into four:
1. cleaning and housekeeping, 2. reception duties, and answering guest queries, 3. working the bar, and 4. property upkeep (e.g. staining garden furniture, weeding, updating the staff board and local information, etc.).
For those only wishing to stay for 4 weeks, we reduce the variety of duties in order to prevent you having to learn how to do too many things, and to reduce the time we spend training short-term stays. We prioritise longer-stay volunteer applications because they're better for you and for us.
In their time off we encourage the team to get out and about, to go and explore the stunning Highlands and really make the most of their time here. But this is their home, so if they choose just to chill with a book that's also fine. Days are long in Scotland so there's plenty of time to explore!
Regras
Volunteers are only asked to remember that by committing to come and be part of our team, we are relying on you to turn up, to give us your best self, and to help us to give our guests a really positive experience. If you're a negative person, or if you don't want to work hard to be part of something great, then this isn't the right place for you.
