I stayed a month at the organization and am quite sad that I already had to leave. The people working there are very welcoming and after some time you feel right at home. You usually teach for two hours in the evening and sometimes work on a project you chose during the day. During your free time or your days off you can explore the island as much as you like.

I here declare Oskar to be among our best volunteer showing team work during his stay with us. Patience, respect and hard work. He has been positive to all members of the organisation and work positively to our projects. We recommend him to come back at the Good Hope Society

My volunteering experience with the organization in Zanzibar was very positive overall. Volunteers receive accommodation and three daily meals for a €10 day contribution. The house is in a local neighborhood near Stone Town, with shared rooms if other volunteers are present, and other non-volunteer tenants also live there. Activities vary daily, so flexibility is important. Be aware that clothes may need to be washed by hand, and if you value plenty of personal space, you may find the experience quite immersive. The caring team made it truly meaningful and unforgettable. Asante!

Thank you, Martina, for sharing your reflections on volunteering with The Good Hope Society in Zanzibar. I’m glad your time with us was positive and meaningful, and your description truly captures the spirit of our program. Your flexibility and openness to daily activities were appreciated, and your practical notes about living arrangements will help future volunteers. Most importantly, I’m touched that you found the caring team and overall experience unforgettable. Asante sana.
