The hostel is centrally located and provides a welcoming space to meet travelers from around the world, practice Spanish/English, enjoy in-house programming and excursions, and enjoy multiple common spaces alone or with other guests. The facilities are very clean, and the breakfast was tasty and satisfying. I loved being part of the volunteer team! I worked directly with Mariam (co-owner), who has great creative and operational vision for the space and is very clear about volunteer expectations. the hostel practices sustainability through recycling and composting. hope to return someday soon!

My experience in the hostel just felt like home! Mariam and AK are two lovely hosts that try everyday to make a second house for travelers better and better. Not only they're always happy to help with suggestions, they're also open to listen, especially if you are propositive with new opportunities and activities. I loved the vibe of the hostel and the volunteers, we became a big family from all over the world. Thanks to this I was able to enjoy San Cristobal just as I can do with my friends back home, sharing activities, knowledge and culture, but, most important, perspectives!

Ich habe es absolut geliebt, im Hostel zu bleiben. Es war meine erste Freiwilligen-Erfahrung, und sie hat wirklich alle Erwartungen übertroffen. Von Anfang an wirkte der Ort so warm und einladend, als wäre ich schon dort gewesen. Ich habe erstaunliche Menschen getroffen, die sich jetzt wie Familie anfühlen, und gehen zu müssen war ehrlich gesagt herzzerreißend für mich. Ich bin zutiefst dankbar für all die Momente, die ich dort verbracht habe, für die Freundschaften, die ich geschlossen habe, und für das Gefühl von Zuhause, das mir das Hostel gegeben hat. Es ist ein sehr besonderer Ort, und ich werde ihn immer mit so viel Liebe in Erinnerung behalten.

Mein Aufenthalt im Hostel La Isla war fantastisch. Sowohl AK als auch Mariam waren freundlich und zuvorkommend. Sie erklärten alle Aufgaben sehr klar, die Schichten waren perfekt organisiert und das Funktionieren ist sehr gut. Das Hostel ist super sauber und die Atmosphäre ist sehr international. Sie bemühen sich, dass man sich wie zu Hause fühlt und dass man das Hostel so fühlt. Ich schätze ihren Umgang sehr und ohne Zweifel würde ich zurückkommen!!!!

Meine erste Erfahrung als Freiwillige in einem Hostel war also im Hostel mit Mariam und AK! Sehr organisiert, klare Erwartungen und offen für meine Ideen und Feedback. Es war eine Lernkurve, um alle Aufgaben und Verfahren zu bewältigen. Aber sie waren geduldig mit mir und ich hatte das Gefühl, dass ich durch jeden Fehler wachsen könnte. Stolz darauf, dass ich eine pflanzliche Pfannkuchen-Rezeptur für ihr Frühstücksmenü entwickeln durfte. Und als ich einen familiären Notfall hatte, waren sie sehr verständnisvoll und unterstützend. Habe tolle Erinnerungen gesammelt und Freunde im Hostel gefunden. Außerdem eine großartige Basis, um San Cristóbal und Chiapas zu erkunden. Danke!

El hostel es un lugar hermoso, tranquilo y con muy buena energía. Ideal para descansar. Sus anfitriones AK y Mariam son personas amables, divertidas, cálidas, siempre pendientes de que te encuentres cómodo y te diviertas, y también dispuestos a ayudar en todo lo que puedan. Creo que es importante cuando viajando solas y solos. Tienen clases de Yoga, siempre considerando a todes y sus posibilidades, lo cual hace que sea una excelente experiencia. El desayuno es riquísimo y balanceado, y la terraza re linda😊. La ubicación es fantástica, estás cerca de todo. Definitivamente lo recomiendo🩷.

Mi experiencia fue increíble, tanto con Mari como con ak, me sentí como en mi casa. Aprendí muchas cosas nuevas y me hicieron sentir parte de la familia. En cuanto al voluntariado, todo super claro, super organizado y todo pensado para que puedas realizar las tareas sin inconvenientes. Súper recomendable!

Volunteering at the hostel was a lovely experience. The work was fair and everything was always kept clean. The hostal is very social and friendly and you make such good friends with the other volunteers and the guest. I highly recommended visiting the hostel:)

This is a very homey hostel with wonderful owners, and it attracts great travelers. It has been my favorite hostel experience by far. I would gladly stay another month if I could. Breakfast and yoga are included, and the kitchen had everything I needed to cook comfortably. The location is excellent, with easy access to everything I needed. Chiapas is gorgeous — full of nature, hills, and water. It's truly an amazing place!
