This community-based wildlife initiative is dedicated to protecting elephants and preserving Karen culture through deeply authentic, non-profit conservation. The host, a member of the Karen ethnic group, isn’t a biologist but a lifelong guardian whose expertise is rooted in ancestral knowledge passed down through generations. Based in a simple, secluded setting deep in the forest, the project prioritizes inner connection and harmony with nature over city comforts. After years in ethical rescue, the host returned to his family’s land to provide a safe haven where elephants live without exploitation. Every contribution is reinvested directly into the animals' care, ensuring their well-being while empowering the local community through traditional values and a shared mission of love.

This project is a community-based wildlife conservation initiative dedicated to protecting elephants and preserving Karen culture. The hosts work with local elephant caretakers and farming families, ensuring sustainable tourism benefits both animals and people. With years of experience living in the region, they integrate travelers into daily life—through cultural exchanges, conservation efforts, and local support initiatives that empower the surrounding community.
Located in the lush mountains outside Chiang Mai, the project sits in a serene jungle setting surrounded by rice fields, waterfalls, and traditional Karen villages. Travelers can enjoy the quiet of nature, with solar and hydroelectric power providing a sustainable stay. Though remote, it’s just a couple of hours from Chiang Mai city—perfectly balancing immersion in rural life with access to cultural landmarks, markets, and natural wonders like Doi Inthanon National Park.
This journey empowers travelers to support ethical elephant conservation while directly funding key community initiatives in the Karen village. From your program fee, part of the money goes straight into actionable local projects:
• School Transport: Covering daily transportation costs for local children to safely access school.
• Fire Season Prevention: Providing gear, water, and essential supplies for locals building jungle firebreaks ahead of the wildfire season.
• Clean Water Access: Funding the construction and maintenance of a community water filtration system for the village.
Every activity, from preparing natural elephant food to supporting local artisans, creates a tangible, transparent impact, helping preserve Karen heritage, protect rescued wildlife, and empower the local community.
Collaborating with local farmers, artisans, and conservationists fosters meaningful Partnerships for the Goals.
Through supporting local jobs for elephant keepers and caretakers, this experience advances Decent Work and Economic Growth.
By engaging with Karen traditions and sustaining rural livelihoods, travelers contribute to Sustainable Cities and Communities.
