Belford Hostel

Our hostel is in a converted church located near Dean Village in Edinburgh’s beautiful West End. It is the perfect place for people looking to meet new people and explore the wonders that Edinburgh and Scotland have to offer!

We are a fun and energetic backpacker’s hostel with a great staff “family” with volunteers from all over the world, including Australia, Germany, France, Belgium, Italy and South Africa. We look after each other, work hard and treat each other and the hostel with respect - we expect the same from our volunteers!

The tasks and work hours are perfect: you have a whole free day ahead! The hostel has a big common area and well equipped kitchen. There were a lot of volunteers so you can have many friends around. And it's only a 10 min walk to the center! We would have roasts every sunday and free food
The downside for me is that the hostel doesn't have proper heating system. It was freezing inside, specially the bathrooms and staff room (the manager tried to help me with that, and I appreciate it), but you needed heavy clothes all the time. I recommend the experience, just to avoid winter time! thnx guys♡

I couldn't have imagined that my first experience as a volunteer would be so good. Belford Hostel is great for anyone looking for a place to call home in Edinburgh. Excellent for meeting new people, the city. The work is easy and agreed hours and days off are respected.

I met very special people who I hope to see them again.

I've learned a lot of things and had a lot of fun. Even when I was off work, I enjoyed spending my time at the hostel talking to everyone and learning new things.

If I get the chance, I will come back. :)

Experiência muito válida , as tarefas são simples e levam poucas horas o que nos dá muito tempo livre pra aproveitar a cidade. O hostel é próximo a muitos pontos turísticos e possui pontos de ônibus, mercados e farmácias próximas. Aqui consegui me conectar com muitas pessoas legais e treinar meu inglês. Agradeço a toda equipe do Belford hostel pela recepção e pela bela experiência.

My time at Belford was my first volunteering experience and I enjoyed it very much! I’ve met the most amazing people and was really sad when it was time to leave.

The hours were ok and you have enough time to explore the city. What also was very much appreciated, were the food pick ups by Taz.

This was my first volunteer experience and I'm glad that was the case! Kitchen, common room, and TV area make for perfect spots to hangout, cook together, play games, organize movie nights etc. The people really made it feel like home and I've made such amazing friends ❤️ The tasks are managable and everybody's happy to lend a hand. You get a bunch of free time, so you can easily check out a lot in and around the city.
Taz also brings free food usually once or twice a week, which is great.
All in all, thank you to everybody who made this stay as great as it was!
