We have plenty of volunteering opportunities at our hostels and with the NGO we are partnered with. Edumais is an NGO that teaches English and entrepreneurship to kids here in the favela. I spent 2 months here, and I loved it. The variety of activities and proximity to the beach were hard to beat. Lots of parties in and out of the hostel. It’s not the quietest place and be ready for an energetic atmosphere, but if that’s what you’re looking for in rio, this is your spot.

The staff at el Misti is a true family, the vibe is truly amazing and even though Rio is so beautiful that you want to spend as much time outside as possible, the hostel's energy meant its always a pleasure to chill in the common areas. the work is clear and doable, although some last minute changes could be communicated earlier
