My time at the Matala hostel was good. The manager respects the hours and days you work. The work itself is easy. Crete as a whole is beautiful. I recommend renting a car, if you come here I think it would be good to have a drivers license. I also recommend coming here during the season so end of may through summer. That’s when the beach conditions are the best( the water is very pretty clear and blue). This was good for a slower way of living and connecting with nature (hike to red beach)! Honestly there’s not much to do in the town but there is a few bars. It’s definitely beach bum vibe.

Matala hostel was so great to work at!! The hours/work was exactly what was written on their profile! Matala is a great town and the hostel provided opportunities to meet locals in the area and enjoy many different experiences!

I had a great experience volunteering at Intra Muros! The manager and the other volunteers were very friendly and they were always willing to help. The tasks are also very manageable, so I had plenty of time to explore Crete.

After arriving with the ferry/plane, and wandering into the city, you'll find a beautiful red building in the middle of grey ones : the IntraMuros hostel. You'll be welcomed by one of the volunteers or Hector, the host. This hostel is simple, small and yet have a lot of charm. The work is easy to master if you're organised and welcoming. It's a place of meeting, gathering and good times.
