Jackma Homestay

It's a very good place to meet and to exchange the culture with locals. Travelers/volunteers will be able to discover Vietnam in a very special way through the motorbikes rides or trips with the students. Our place is totally free for volunteers, so when you do volunteering here, you are covered of all charge. Located in a peacefull corner of one of the busiest city of Southest Asia, just few minute to city center.

ABOUT US We are a group of student living and working in Ho Chi Minh city. Together, we are building an English speaking enviroment to help our students to have the opportunity practicing and improving their English skill. For this mission, we need volunteers to work with us and help us. You just need to spend 2-4 hours per day (from monday to friday) to teach English or to talk with my students. On weekend, we are off, so you can join us for some activities outdoor or you can do your own business. About teaching, we mainly focus on daily conversation, so we don't require high teaching skill or certificate from you. You’ll have all accommodations for free and get free home cooked meals or be taken to local restaurants. You don't need to pay anything during your staying. In addition, if you love music, you have great occasion to learn or to practice it in my place. We have all kind of instrument : piano, guitar, ukulele, cajon... Come to us, never mind about your age, education, religion or country. At the weekend, we often go to parks, museums or lakes for a picnic. Our students are very happy to show you around the city on motorbike rides, help you understand about the cultural traditions of Vietnam and discover the HCMC in a special way. You may also have the opportunity to take trip with our students to different part of Vietnam...

As soon as I got to the Homestay, after a 38 hours trip, one of the hosts told me I wouldn't have the three meals as it was agreed on. The other host offered me to not teach, since he was not offering me the meals. I told them I would give it a try for a week, because since I was not expecting to pay for food, my budget was not prepared for that.
After a week I was making friends, adapting to the place and decided to stay. Long story short, they started to push me a lot of housework to compensate and told me I was taking advantage of the homestay. I was literally told I wasn't welcome there.

Sorry for your inconvenience, Tomaz. You are the greatest person we've meet. I don't have any explanation. Sorry again.
