Monte Silvestre

If you want to experiment a simple and deep contact with nature, in a gorgeous land in Alto Alentejo region, with green pastures, wildlife and a small river, come and join us!
We dedicate our time to this project with all our love.

We are a family of 4 - adults and a baby: one entirely dedicated to the land and two of us transitioning from Lisbon. For us is important to have a respectful and friendly environment, being in tune with nature and its rhythms. We love to have fun and enjoy life, playing music at the bonfire, meeting with the neighbours, learning new skills, cooking healthy food. So we would love to invite you to share all of this with us.

Monte Silvestre is a place of stunning natural beauty, home to incredibly kind and ecologically conscious humans. Whilst staying there with my partner, Maria and Ricardo welcomed and embraced us as part of the family. We learnt about syntropic agriculture whilst working on their agroforestry plot; planting trees/shrubs, mulching and preparing Hazel for fence making. We also prepared vegetable beds for planting and learnt practical construction-based skills. Work hours were always fair and considerate. We sang and swam. The food was exquisite and the company merry. Saí tão feliz como um perdiz!

Monte Silvestre is a beautiful peaceful paradise, I spent an incredible month here connecting with the land and it's people. Maria and Ricardo are some of the kindest, most genuine souls I have ever had the joy of meeting and working alongside. The work was always well explained, fair and enjoyable! I learnt a lot about permaculture, agro forestry, sustainable off grid living & how to use certain tools/materials. They always ensure you are happy and comfortable doing what is needed :) Muito Obrigada pela experiência, Com amor para os dois <3

Honestamente esperaba encontrar un espacio de comunidad, con más gente, donde poder sociabilizar y conocer gente, practicar lenguas, etcétera. Solo me encontré trabajando con Ricardo durante las mañanas y tratando de disfrutar del río y del pueblo durante la tarde. Quiero decir, tal vez si uno va solo puede resultarle un poco aburrido, como me pasó a mí. Las tareas son exigentes, ojo con eso. Más allá de todo eso (que tiene que ver más con aquello que yo esperaba) Ricardo es una gran persona, super comprensible. Si te interesa la sustentabilidad y los eco proyectos, seguramente aprendas mucho.

Our experience was absolutely incredible! We enjoyed every day and every second on the farm. We never met such kind people and we felt like to be part of that family. We had a main project together and also some little projects occasionally. Whenever there was something new for us, they explained us everything very well. We learned a lot about handyman, the nature, and eco farm living. We also had an amazing social time together. We would do that experience again and again! Thank you Ricardo & Maria for everything. We will miss you!

Foi um ótimo primeiro voluntariado internacional, o Monte Silvestre está só começando mas já está com muitos bons projetos em andamento, os anfitriões tem um lindo proposito de desenvolvimento do local sem interferir ou danificar o ciclo da natureza, as tarefas são muito bem explicadas e sugeridas de acordo com a vontade do voluntario, o ambiente é alegre e tranquilo, fiquei muito feliz por dormir uns dias na charmosa vila de Nisa e depois poder trocar para a Caravan, o céu de lá é lindo de se ver, o banho de rio é libertador, e as todas as refeições foram ótimas, td melhor do que combinado!
