Our hostel is located at the gates of the sierra madre in MEXICO so apart from the beautiful town the mountains surrounding it are full of treks, waterfalls, canyons and woods.

The lake nearby offers kayaking and waterskiing, there is a cave where at nightfall you can see hundreds of thousands of bats leaving to catch their meal, there is a place called the enchanted forrest, that has a lot of trails for running, trekking and mountainbiking. The town of Santiago has many old buildings so people also enjoy urban exploring here.

Our Hostel is operated by us the owners, we are a young married couple that love the outdoors and have a small natural dyes workshop in the hostel. Both of us have traveled a lot and met many people from around the world. We also have two kids that make our guests feel like home.

It was a nice experience at Posada de Colores, even though the host had to be somewhere else during the time i was there, the communication via whatsapp worked well and the other volunteers and employees were were friendly and welcoming. The Kitchen could be equipped a little bit better and a bit more organised, but you have everything to cook.

All in all a good experience! And the location is really good, you have a lot of restaurants and cafes in the surrounding area. Hiking in the mountains is great and i recommend to go to Matacanes for a canyoning tour!

Es un lugar hermoso, tranquilo ,agradable. El anfitrión muy atento y siempre nos trata bien muy. Recomendado para todos los que quieran disfrutar de las montañas y la naturaleza. Tiene hermoso lugares Santiago y hay mucho para recorrer.El hostal es muy lindo y tiene unas hermosas vistas

El hostel es muy cálido y hogareño. Tanto Armando como las personas que trabajan allí son muy amables y hospitalarias. Nos ofrecieron con confianza disponer del lugar. Realizamos con gusto todas las tareas que nos propuso Armando, siempre explicandonos todo con paciencia y brindándonos las herramientas y los materiales necesarios para cada trabajo.
Además pudimos disfrutar de los hermosos paisajes de Santiago y el contacto con sus habitantes. Realmente una hermosa experiencia y super recomendable!! Nos gustó mucho nuestro primer voluntariado. Super agradecidos con esta experiencia!!

I really enjoyed my time with Armanda. He is a very chill guy who is understanding and willing to work with you. Hours were as described and all the tasks related to the post. Note: you should be comfortable with basic power tools. The town is absolutely beautiful with many opportunities for hikes during the day and just enjoying the plaza lights at night. Public transportation is not the best though and even Uber can be unreliable.
