This was my first experience with Worldpackers as well as my first time volunteering in a social cause. I don’t have enough words to explain how much I’ve learned about life in just a short time. It was an amazing and unforgettable experience! Quite shocking at the beginning... looking to the reality of those people and comparing to my comfortable life, I really have nothing to complain about! The volunteers are all very welcoming, the time is very flexible. You can really put your hands on a social work. But not for everybody, as you can’t be picky with accommodation and higiene.
This volunteering opportunity was a very tough but rewarding one. You are responsible for patient care, physio and also other tasks for sick, injured or disabled people. The centre is very big but has a great community feel. Lots of volunteers whilst I was there but still the opportunity to throw yourself into something new and get to know some of the patients.
Accommodation is basic but the food was great. I learnt a lot from this short volunteering placement and would have no hesitation in going back to help out again
I have been in Thabarwa Nature Center for the last 3 months already. When I arrived, nothing was as I expected, an experience that I couldn’t imagine. The center, the people (locals and foreigners), the activities, the daily life in that lovely community was surprising. Every day I learned about something. Prepare yourself for an unforgettable journey. I totally recommend all of the persons to come here and have this experience. Don’t hesitate and open your hearts and your minds to Myanmar people. They will do the same ;)
