The Beehive
If someone is looking for a small, relaxed, family-like environment where they can meet people from all over the world, then this is the place for them. While we don't live on the premises, The Beehive is our home. We want our volunteers and hostel guests to feel as if they are staying in a friend's home in Rome. We start out trusting and respecting everyone who walks through our doors, and we hope you will trust and respect us and our place in return. We are not a party hostel, but we are sociable, and while we are not always around, we are always accessible. We like to provide our volunteers and guests with great information (or the tools to get it) and a cozy, clean, and peaceful atmosphere. This is a multitasking position that includes reception, caretaking, some light cleaning, and helping us out. It is also very important to socialize and spend time with our guests.
My husband and I are Americans who moved to Rome in 1999 and started our hostel, The Beehive. We own and operate the hostel ourselves, along with our long-time staff member and manager, Yuli. We have a longtime cleaning person, Lea, who works during the week, and Mery, our weekend cleaner. My husband and I are friendly and informal, but we are professional, take our work seriously, and are very protective of our hostel. Since 2020, we have also had another business, Beehive Bagels, which is off-premises, although the reception is a pickup point for orders and shipments.
