YHA London Thameside

Our hostel is located in a quiet, residential area, 20mins away from the busy city. You will get involved in the real London life, located 2mins by the river and with a beautiful view to London.

The volunteers will be treated with kindness and respect. We all work as a team, no matter of age, gender or nationality. Our team comes from all around the world and speak different languages (English, French, Portuguese, Spanish and Romanian)

I would like to express my gratitude to the entire staff and the YHA organization for the opportunity given. The work in the kitchen and as a housekeeper is not easy; it can be somewhat exhausting. In my experience, I had to change rooms three times in less than 15 days due to the lack of fixed rooms for volunteers. Nevertheless, I cannot overlook the fact that in some weeks, it is possible to have 3-4 days off to enjoy. I would like to recommend providing a private space for volunteers to store their food, as sharing the same area with guests can lead to confusion.

My experience in YHA was incredible, I met amazing people in there who make me feel more than welcome. The tasks were not that hard, even though I was in a period when there was not many customers. They respected every single schedule and they were very flexible if you needed any day off. Jin was an amazing host and I’m so grateful for the opportunity that she gave me:)

This hostel was simply one of the best experiences I've ever had in London. I have nothing but gratitude for the whole team.
The working hours were fair and the activities weren't overly tiring. The time off really pays off and you can make the most of your free time. The area where the hostel is located is well-located and very beautiful. There are parks and a view of the Thamisa River right on your doorstep.
I would certainly come back to volunteer if I had another chance. Thank you YHA Thamiside team!

It was a lovely experience of volunteering; the staff is very nice and welcoming, the work is more than fair and the hours were always respected. You get lots of free time (sometimes two/three days in a row) to explore the city; the location is a bit far from the center but quiet, safe and well connected with buses and the tube. It's a perfect place to socialize, practice english and just get to live in an area of london not so touristy. I highly recommend the experience!

I’ve had a great month at YHA Thameside and would definitely volunteer here again. The staff and other volunteers are friendly, the work is straight forward and you get plenty of free time to explore London!
