Esta fue mi primera experiencia como voluntario y cumplió mis expectativas por completo en cuanto a experiencia de ayuda a animales, conexión con la gente tanto voluntarios de todas partes del mundo como con la gente que vive en Creta y los más importante con los perritos del refugio. Siento que con el tiempo podrían mejorar los servicios a disposición de los voluntarios (aun que desde el principio se informa de las instalaciones y servicios disponibles y son transparentes en cada cosa). Una experiencia inolvidable que me abre el camino a más voluntariados a futuro ❤️

Más o menos me lo esperaba, aun así me sorprendió un poco: las condiciones de vida son bastante difíciles para los voluntarios; no hay agua caliente, dormí en un colchón en el suelo sin ropa de cama real y hay ratas por la noche. Dormir puede ser difícil; la mayoría de las noches los perros ladran y aúllan toda la noche. Si duermes ligero, no vas a dormir mucho. El trabajo es duro, pero para mí valió la pena; ninguno de los 300 perros muerde, solo se puede sentir su agradecimiento. El anfitrión, Nikos, realmente ha dedicado su vida a los perros y al refugio; es un lugar único y maravilloso y aún tiene mucho potencial.

Esta fue mi primera experiencia con worldpackers y me encantó muchísimo. Nikos es una persona increíble, entusiasta y excelente para enseñar, incluso con inglés deficiente (al que te acostumbras rápidamente). Trabajar con y para los perros fue una experiencia tan gratificante y la recomiendo a todos los que buscan una experiencia real y recuerdos hermosos. Ten en cuenta que los alojamientos son MUY simples, me alojé en una habitación sin electricidad, pero Nikos me dio una gran luz y hay calentadores de gas. Además, ten en cuenta que un perro también vivirá en tu habitación (sí, a veces se pone desordenado). ¡En general, una experiencia increíble!

Cuando el anfitrión estaba estresado o de mal humor, descargaba todo en mí y en una ocasión incluso gritó. Él podría haberse disculpado y yo también le pedí que no gritara conmigo de nuevo, pero él solo intentó hacerme creer que es mi culpa. Pensaba irme, pero me quedé por los perros y también porque no tenía mucho dinero para vivir por mi cuenta. Que me señalara por algo que no fue mi culpa ocurrió dos veces y no volvería solo por sus temperamentos.

Nikos es muy acogedor y atento, como cada perro en el refugio que merece mucho amor. Tuve que acortar mi viaje, pero durante los pocos días el trabajo fue muy agradable. Ten en cuenta que las condiciones de vida son muy difíciles: no hay agua caliente para ducharte, a veces solo una comida, poca electricidad, humedad, y convives con perros en tus habitaciones que hacen sus necesidades dentro, así que hay muchos malos olores incluso cuando limpias… Solo creo que será mejor si los voluntarios son conscientes de ello antes de ir al refugio. No obstante, ha sido una experiencia de aprendizaje.

Recomendaría hacer voluntariado en el refugio para cualquiera!! Nikos fue tan auténtico y acogedor cuando llegué y se aseguró de que nunca me faltara nada! Se podía ver realmente su amor y su pasión por lo que hace! Cada día era diferente, lo cual disfruté, nunca se sintió como trabajo! No importa qué tareas estuvieras haciendo ese día, siempre había tiempo para socializar con los perros, por supuesto :) ¡Desafortunadamente tuve que acortar mi estancia, pero espero poder volver en el futuro!!

I loved my time at the the shelter. It has taught me important skills, and it also gave the opportunity to immerse myself in the experience and be in the present moment. The dogs are all lovely, my favourite was Eric, and there are other animals such as cats & a horse! It's in a beautiful setting with stunning views. Nikos' dedication was really inspiring and you can really tell how much he loves them all. This was my first Worldpackers experience and it was amazing for me - I would love to return! The accomodation is simple however it worked perfectly for me. Thank you Nikos & the the shelter!

Nikos was very welcoming and it was clear he wanted the volunteers to be happy and cared for! All the (roughly 300) dogs are all super friendly. There was a good routine looking after the dogs, with enough breaks to not over work yourself, especially when it's hot! Nikos supplied more than enough food every day. I didn't however have any clean sheets for the first couple nights, which I wasn't aware of before. Some other volunteers and I also felt that the online coordinator we spoke to, wasn't always the clearest when answering questions. But overall the experience at the the shelter was great!

I absolutely over my stay at bronxfamilia the the shelter! Nikos and Caro are the most amazing people ever and treat you so well. The work days vary with the amount of work you have to do and every day is different, which taught me resilience and really brought me closer to the dogs. While the accomodation is quite simple, nikos accommodates your needs very well with what they have, and you will end up being spoiled with drinks and food throughout the day. I truly recommend this volunteering experience, such an amazing 3 weeks!

Volunteering at the the shelter was the most amazing experience. The love and energy that is put into the the shelter is evident through how happy and sweet all of the animals are. It was an extremely rewarding experience. I learned so much, not only about caring for animals but about myself I have gained confidence and an ability for decision making, communication and working in a team. I bonded well with the other volunteers from all over the world. I would recommend the shelter to anyone who happy to get stuck in and help out, all of the hard work you put in you get back in love from the animals.❤️
