Je m'attendais à ça un peu, mais j'ai quand même été un peu choqué: les conditions de vie sont assez difficiles pour les bénévoles : il n'y a pas d'eau chaude, j'ai dormi sur un matelas sur le sol sans véritable linge de lit et il y a des rats autour la nuit. Dormir peut devenir difficile, la plupart des nuits les chiens aboient et hurlent toute la nuit; si votre sommeil est léger, vous ne dormirez pas beaucoup. Le travail est dur, mais cela en valait vraiment la peine pour moi; aucun des 300 chiens ne mord, vous pouvez simplement sentir leur gratitude. L'hôte, Nikos, a vraiment consacré sa vie aux chiens et au refuge; c'est un lieu unique et merveilleux et il a encore beaucoup de potentiel.

C'était ma première expérience worldpackers et je l'ai tellement adorée ! Nikos est une personne incroyablement enthousiaste et douée pour enseigner, même avec un anglais approximatif (auquel on s'habitue rapidement). Travailler avec et pour les chiens a été une expérience très enrichissante et je le recommande à tous ceux qui cherchent une expérience réelle et de beaux souvenirs ! Notez que les hébergements sont TRÈS simples, j'ai séjourné dans une chambre sans électricité mais Nikos m'a donné une grande lumière et il y a des chauffages au gaz. De plus, gardez à l'esprit qu'un chien vivra aussi dans votre chambre (oui, cela peut parfois devenir chaotique). Dans l'ensemble, une expérience incroyable !

Quand l'hôte était stressé ou de mauvaise humeur, il se déchargeait sur moi et une fois il a même crié. Il aurait pu s'excuser et j'ai aussi demandé de ne plus crier sur moi, mais il a juste essayé de me faire croire que c'était ma faute. Je pensais partir, mais je suis resté pour les chiens et aussi parce que je n'avais pas beaucoup d'argent pour vivre seul. Le fait qu'il me reproche quelque chose qui n'était pas de ma faute est arrivé deux fois et je ne reviendrais pas juste à cause de ses tempéraments.

Nikos est très accueillant et doux, comme chaque chien du refuge qui mérite beaucoup d'amour. J'ai dû raccourcir mon voyage, mais pendant les quelques jours, le travail a été très agréable. Notez que les conditions de vie sont très difficiles : il n'y a pas d'eau chaude pour se doucher, parfois seulement un repas, peu d'électricité, de l'humidité, et vous vivrez avec des chiens dans vos chambres qui font leurs besoins à l'intérieur, donc beaucoup de mauvaises odeurs même lorsque vous nettoyez… Je pense simplement qu'il vaudrait mieux que les bénévoles en soient conscients avant d'arriver au refuge. Néanmoins, cela a été une expérience d'apprentissage.

Je recommanderais de faire du bénévolat au refuge à n'importe qui !! Nikos était tellement authentique et accueillant lorsque je suis arrivé et s'est assuré que je ne manquais jamais de rien ! Vous pouviez vraiment voir son amour et sa passion pour ce qu'il fait ! Chaque jour était différent, ce que j'ai apprécié, cela n'avait jamais l'air d'un travail ! Peu importe les tâches que vous faisiez ce jour-là, il y avait toujours du temps pour socialiser avec les chiens, bien sûr :) Malheureusement j'ai dû écourter mon séjour mais j'espère pouvoir revenir à l'avenir !!

I loved my time at the the shelter. It has taught me important skills, and it also gave the opportunity to immerse myself in the experience and be in the present moment. The dogs are all lovely, my favourite was Eric, and there are other animals such as cats & a horse! It's in a beautiful setting with stunning views. Nikos' dedication was really inspiring and you can really tell how much he loves them all. This was my first Worldpackers experience and it was amazing for me - I would love to return! The accomodation is simple however it worked perfectly for me. Thank you Nikos & the the shelter!

Nikos was very welcoming and it was clear he wanted the volunteers to be happy and cared for! All the (roughly 300) dogs are all super friendly. There was a good routine looking after the dogs, with enough breaks to not over work yourself, especially when it's hot! Nikos supplied more than enough food every day. I didn't however have any clean sheets for the first couple nights, which I wasn't aware of before. Some other volunteers and I also felt that the online coordinator we spoke to, wasn't always the clearest when answering questions. But overall the experience at the the shelter was great!

I absolutely over my stay at bronxfamilia the the shelter! Nikos and Caro are the most amazing people ever and treat you so well. The work days vary with the amount of work you have to do and every day is different, which taught me resilience and really brought me closer to the dogs. While the accomodation is quite simple, nikos accommodates your needs very well with what they have, and you will end up being spoiled with drinks and food throughout the day. I truly recommend this volunteering experience, such an amazing 3 weeks!

Volunteering at the the shelter was the most amazing experience. The love and energy that is put into the the shelter is evident through how happy and sweet all of the animals are. It was an extremely rewarding experience. I learned so much, not only about caring for animals but about myself I have gained confidence and an ability for decision making, communication and working in a team. I bonded well with the other volunteers from all over the world. I would recommend the shelter to anyone who happy to get stuck in and help out, all of the hard work you put in you get back in love from the animals.❤️

Nikos and Caro are very loving people and I got on well with both of them. I have taken all the dogs to my heart and would come here again and again. It's definitely worth the experience.
