I can say that it was an incredible experience where I was able to meet many people from all over the world, do different tasks, and also get to know this beautiful city. The hostel is very well located, and its staff is some of the best I have ever met

The hostel is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The required work hours are low and the work is straightforward, which leaves most of your time free for events, tourist outings and socializing with the many other volunteers (there are about 30 at a time). The hostel has a relaxed, non-corporate vibe which means that it feels like home. Being here gave me so many new experiences, hobbies and friends. Thank you to Gabs and the rest of the management team for creating an environment which is so easy to enjoy. To future volunteers - the best guitar is the 4/4. Don't be shy, apply!

My time at HSH was truly memorable! Cozy, clean, loved the people I met there. However, I'm not giving 5 stars because the promised 2 days off per week were not respected. During my stay, I never had 2 full days off, except for one week when I joined a paid trip organised by the company. When I addressed this with the manager, I was told this is how their system works and that I could try to swap shifts with others, which wasn't always possible. The hostel also relies heavily on part-time volunteers, which sometimes made things a bit disorganized. That said, I'm still glad for my time there!

This was the perfect place to have my first Worldpackers experience. Everyone was super welcoming, the working hours were easily manageable, and the job was easy and well organized. The best part is the people you get to meet here. There are volunteers from all over the world, and I was able to create amazing friendships. They also organize lots of events, so you'll have plenty of fun. On top of that, the hostel's location is perfect for exploring the city and enjoying the nightlife. I really, really recommend this hostel to everyone!

Volunteering at the hostel was probably the best five weeks of my life. I met incredible people, made lasting connections, and felt so welcomed by an incredible group of people. If you want a home away from home this is the place to be. You'll find music, laughter, discover the charm of Edinburgh, and feel like you're part of a family. I'll definitely find my way back to this beautiful place.

I had the time of my life at the hostel! I loved every moment i spend here, from doing the daily activities that are being organized by the hostel to just hanging around the lounge with the other volunteers, there was never a dull moment here. The work that has to be done is so fair and easily manageable that it gives you plenty of time to explore the city and its surrounding nature. I'm going to miss everybody immensely and can't wait to come back!

This is a truly amazing place to stay and volunteer. The work is so fair and people are absolutely amazing! You'll get a lot of free time to explore the city and have fun. The lounge and kitchen is very spacious and different fun events are going on everyday. I'm looking forward to coming back again!

I truly cannot recommend the hostel enough. From my first day, everyone--both management and volunteers--made sure I felt at home. It was my first time working at a hostel, and probably the most social environment I'd ever been exposed to, so I was a bit overwhelmed at the start but, within a few days, I already felt I had a second family in Edinburgh. I never thought I would miss hoovering, shooting pool after lunch, eating pain au chocolats for breakfast, or sleeping in a 16-bed dorm so much, but it was these mundane moments I'll remember the most. I can't wait to come back!!

100& the best volunteering experience ever!!! Words cannot describe how much I will cherish my time at the hostel. About the experience: The work is easy -- just simple cleaning shifts. You get to pick your own schedule, so you could work for two hours every day or give yourself 5 days off if you wanted! The living quarters for volunteers is very cozy and clean. Volunteers get their own floor of the hostel since there are so many of us (roughly 30). Everyone is SO lovely and people go out of their way to feed you, shop with you, help you out, have jam sessions together, and make true friends!

I loved my time at the hostel! So much so that I extended an extra month! The tasks are fair and the hostel's location is great. I made amazing friends with other volunteers as well as guests. All of the social events put on by the hostel are very fun and well organized. Special thanks to Gabs, Dale, and Jay for being such an amazing management team. They were always helpful, caring, flexible. I can't wait to return to Edinburgh sometime in the future! (:
