Volunteering at the shelter was honestly the best thing I have ever done! Working with the animals and the staff was amazing everyone is so lovely and you feel so welcome! If you love animals and the shelter this is defo the place for you! I can't wait to volunteer at the shelter again in the future 🫶

My time at the shelter has been amazing! Met so many wonderful people and felt so welcomed the second I got here. The experience itself is very unique and if you love animals it's the experience of a lifetime! Both the staff and Thomas made sure that I had a good time and that I had everything I needed at all times. I would truly recomend this place to everyone and I really hope to be back some day! Thanks the shelter for this time!

My time at the shelter has been the best month of my life. From the staff, volunteers, animals and nature everything was perfect. Learning about and interacting with all the animals was incredible. All the staff are just like a family and were extremely welcoming and caring throughout my stay. I would highly recommend volunteering at the shelter to anyone who loves animals!

I had the most amazing time at the shelter! I met the best people (many locals and other travelers) with whom you grow really close. We did a lot of great things and learned a lot about Uganda. The hands-on experience with the animals is just something you won't find anywhere else which creates a very unique opportunity to learn and to appreciate these animals. You work in a fantastic team full of people who genuinely love all the animals and would give up anything for them. It is made sure that all of the animals have the best life possible! This is a place you won't forget!!

An Unforgettable Experience at the shelter 🌿🐾 My time at the shelter was absolutely incredible! I had the unique opportunity to work closely with wild animals, getting up close and personal with them—an experience I'll never forget. Thomas always took care of us with great affection, promptly addressing any concerns we had. The entire staff on-site showed genuine love and dedication in caring for the animals. The camaraderie among us was wonderful, filled with shared laughter and joy. I would gladly return time and again and am truly grateful for this enriching experience.

This was by far my favorite experience I have had so far. You not only get to be hands on with most of the animals but you get to learn so much in the process. The staff is so so amazing. They care so much about all the animals and are incredibly kind. Thomas is always willing to go above and beyond for everyone and is very welcoming. I can not recommend this place enough!

Great experience! Suraya, Thomas and the rest of the team were friendly and attentive. If you want to live with locals and learn about the culture I would recommend it. Although there is not much to do in Mpigi it is not a problem as you can go to Kampala which is easy to get to or do something at the shelter, you will Not Ger bored.

Ça a été une expérience unique dans une zone rurale entourée d'animaux. Cependant, la nourriture était terrible, et normalement on ne donnait que 2 repas par jour au lieu de 3, comme ils l'ont dit. Il serait également utile d'avoir une sorte d'orientation ou de formation; un autre volontaire m'a montré les installations et, dès le premier jour, on s'attendait à ce que je travaille à l'intérieur des cages et des enclos des animaux, ce que je n'aurais pas pensé être le plus sûr sans formation ni instructions. Le personnel n'était pas très accueillant. La plupart d'entre eux ne me parlaient pas ou semblaient agacés lorsque je travaillais avec eux. Dans l'ensemble, ce n'était pas suffisant et la nourriture était horrible, pas de précautions de sécurité, peu accueillant.

J'avais des sentiments mitigés concernant mon expérience au CTC. Lorsque j'ai postulé, j'imaginais que ce serait un projet de conservation de la faune, mais en réalité, cela ressemblait davantage à un zoo privé. Voir les animaux dans des enclos m'a personnellement quelque peu perturbé, car j'espérais un environnement plus axé sur la conservation du refuge.
L'hébergement et les installations sont très basiques, ce qui est connu à l'avance afin que vous puissiez vous préparer. La nourriture fournie est également très simple; certains jours, le petit-déjeuner n'était qu'un morceau de pain, alors je recommanderais d'apporter des encas à emporter avec vous.
