The Ugshapamba Pollinator Sanctuary is a regenerative conservation initiative in Machachi, Ecuador, dedicated to restoring habitat for bees, butterflies, and other native pollinators. Through Worldpackers, volunteers can join this mission by supporting ecological restoration, planting and caring for native flowering species, assisting with environmental education activities, contributing to research and monitoring efforts, and participating in community engagement projects. This hands-on experience allows travelers to learn about conservation, sustainable land management, and pollinator protection while making a meaningful contribution to local biodiversity and ecosystem resilience.
Aktivitäten & Schichten
Daily Activities
Feeding dogs: Provide food and care for our beloved dogs.
Watering horses: Ensure the horses have fresh water and observe their well-being.
Forest care: Participate in regeneration by planting, digging, mulching, pruning, and maintaining healthy growth.
Garden work: Support the vegetable garden with planting, weeding, and nurturing crops.
Trail and tree marking: Help signal trees and paths to guide visitors and protect the ecosystem.
Beekeeping and honey harvest (seasonal): If you care to learn and the weather coincides, you may assist with beekeeping tasks such as tending hives, harvesting honey, or preparing plant tinctures and honey jars.
Schedule
Morning (2 hours): Animal care — feeding dogs and watering horses.
Midday (2 hours): Forest regeneration — planting, digging, mulching, pruning.
Afternoon (1 hour): Garden and trail care — tending crops, marking trees and paths.
