Program Details
We offer a hands-on learning experience in agroecological farming on a farm located in El Tablazo, Rionegro, Antioquia. Volunteers participate in the care and maintenance of aromatic herbs, vegetables, fruit trees, and ornamental plants, learning about sowing, transplanting, seedbeds, weeding, soil management, composting, utilization of plant residues, irrigation, harvest, and care of the plants. We seek to connect people with the land and promote sustainable, responsible, and environmentally respectful production practices, combining practical work with the daily life of a rural farm. No prior experience is required; responsibility, willingness to learn, initiative, care for the plants, and respect for the farm's agroecological processes and the people who inhabit it are especially valued.
Activities & Shift
We seek support for the maintenance and comprehensive care of the farm according to daily needs. In general, we carry out cleaning and manual weeding of the crop beds, removal of leaves and dry plant material, distribution of mulch, sowing and transplanting of aromatic herbs and vegetables, preparation and maintenance of seedbeds, irrigation, care of flowers and ornamental plants, support in harvest and selection of fruits and aromatics, organization and use of plant residues for composting, as well as locational repairs and general maintenance of the property, such as painting, upkeep and organization of spaces, small repairs, adaptation of spaces and basic maintenance of facilities and furniture. Activities will alternate according to the farm's needs and the priorities of each day.
Rules
Punctual adherence to the schedules and agreed activities is required, to follow the instructions and recommendations about the use of the farm spaces, to take care of the plants, animals, tools, facilities and other property, to keep the work spaces clean and organized, to properly use protective equipment and tools, not to engage in activities for which authorization or training has not been received, not to operate machinery, products or equipment at risk without authorization, to immediately report any damage, accident, loss or situation that could affect the farm, to respect the privacy and tranquility of the people who inhabit or visit the farm, not to remove plants, seeds, fruits, tools or other goods without authorization and to maintain an attitude of respect, collaboration, responsibility and willingness to learn throughout the experience.
