Hostal Colibrí isn't close to the city of Quito but public transport is easy and cheap for when you want to explore. The surrounding mountains are beautiful and the city lights are very pretty at night. There's always something to help with as it is a small family run business. Lots of international and national travellers stay, mostly for a night because it's close to the airport. There are locals who come for picnics and to use the pool on the weekend. I enjoyed using the pool and jacuzzi. I felt safe walking the local streets. There are many planes but it's generally quiet at night.

I had a great experience volunteering at hostal colibrí the hostel, the hostel is run by a big family and they made me feel at home from the beginning, felipe and mrs merci are especially kind and welcoming people, the food was always plentiful and varied, and the hostel is surrounded by nature which makes it a peaceful place to stay, there were some minor challenges with the staff as in any volunteer experience, but overall it was very positive and rewarding

Had a lot of fun here! Slower vibe since it is a 25 minute walk to a few stores (not much to do). 3 hours to Quito center by bus or 1 hour by Uber- which is also pretty inexpensive. Had a set schedule from 7am-1pm cleaning rooms and helping out with any additional tasks around the Hostal. Super cute space and definitely used the pool/ hot tub :) The people here are super nice and welcoming- cooking me food and being able to practice my Spanish!!

A beautiful place to stay! I worked 7am - 1 pm helping serve breakfast, wash dishes, clean rooms, and any other tasks they needed help with. It is nice and quiet since it is far from the city center, about 3 hours by busses or 1 hour by uber.

I had a fantastic experience at Hostal Colibrí. It is a really well run hostal with loads of different tasks for volunteers to get involved with. The staff are friendly and professional and keen to learn and share information with the volunteers that they host. It gave me a good insight into what makes a great hostal. I enjoyed the tasks, a lot of gardening to start with but also helping with breakfasts, cleaning and preparing rooms and attending reception. I got on really well with everyone else working there and would definitely go back.

I had an amazing experience volunteering at Hostal Colibrí! The atmosphere was welcoming and full of positive energy. A very special thank you to Teresa, who became my Ecuadorian mom during these two unforgettable weeks. Her kindness and care made me feel at home every single day. I'm so grateful for this beautiful experience! Thank you to everyone!

All of the staff are incredibly warm friendly faces! It's a very quiet and calm environment. Being outside of Quito is a bit annoying if you want to get to downtown but there's tons of transportation. The tasks are simple and the shifts fly by quickly. It was a really wonderful first experience with volunteering :)

The hostel is in a very nice place, it has a swimming pool where you can relax and meet other travelers! The hosts are very nice people who try to make you feel like home especially Felipe! They also make you lunch and they are great chefs! It was my first volunteer experience but I really recommend this one! You can enjoy Quito (after a 30min) bus ride and the hostel is in a very calm and relaxed area !

Hostal Colibrí is a really nice place, quiet, in the nature, the place has a swimming pool, fishes swimming in a little lake. My room was clean and comfortable, they (Felipe and Tere) are generous and kind people, made me feel like old friends. Highly recommended. That was my first Worldpackers experience, this community is a powerful tool to travel.

Good things: Felipe is a really nice and kind person. The “room” for volunteers, in my opinion, is disrespectful. It's dirty, with mattress so thin that even putting 2 together you could feel the bed. The place is above the reception, where also happens events for the hotel, so, without warning we stayed up until 3am with really loud music, at least a warning would be nice. The meals included are confusing, you could have anything from the kitchen (messy one) but we were questioned about eating a bread one morning. The activities went fine and as agreed but I don't feel it was a fair trade.
