Program Details

These tasks are complementary to daily life in a shared apartment, in this case a slightly larger one because it is a hostel for up to 16 guests; you are a bridge between the staff and the guests, because you are a bit of both—a bit guest and a bit staff; you will help us maintain order and cleanliness, taking care of the plants, and conversing in all the languages we use.

Activities & Shift

Presence shifts are 4 hours per day (10-12 / 12-16 / 16-20 / 20-22) and there is one weekly day off; the shifts and hours are decided weekly among everyone depending on needs and are rotating.
We will develop the activities required at each moment (we all do everything).
The arrival day is free (in case you arrive at 10:00 or 22:00).
You work 6 days and then you have 1 day off (according to the shifts of the week).
Keep in mind that the day off is never Friday, Saturday or Sunday.

Rules

The fundamental rule (as with guests) is that we cannot bring external people into the hostel. It’s simple, due to capacity and to set an example.
From 22:00 to 9:00, we try to keep noise to a minimum to guarantee everyone’s rest.
Maintain the order and cleanliness of the volunteers’ room and harmony with everyone.
Normally I always say that you should not get intimate with either coworkers or guests and, if you do, that it should be with the hostel and preferably on the last day of stay (to avoid many conflicts).
That said, our last 9 volunteers have left here paired up, and we even have a couple; be careful with the water, it’s magical.
La Rosa de los Vientos is a very special place.
