What can I say, couldn't have wished for a better first time Worldpackers experence. I felt integrated and from the day I arrived. I really had the feeling everybody did everything they could to make it a pleasent stay. Could always ask for help or tips about what to do. Also work was always clearly explained and there was no expectation that you have to know it all immediately. Definately want to come back and can recommend to anyone who wants to experence slower paced, rual life in Japan :)

My experience at the hostel was truly wonderful. Their kindness, understanding, and willingness to help with anything, along with the lovely atmosphere, were some of the things that made me really happy during my stay. The tasks we had to do were very simple and manageable for everyone. We also had many days off during the week, which gave me the opportunity to explore some really beautiful places. It was such a peaceful and memorable experience, and I'm very grateful to the hostel team for making it so special. A huge thank you to Ryohey, Jamie, and Haru! ❤️🙏🏻🫶🏻

My experience in Shuzenji was amazing! The work is light, even if you are alone on a shift, you will most likely finish everything in less than two and a half hours.
The town is beautiful and quiet, perfect if you need to disconnect. The people from the town are lovely, many have made an effort to learn some English and are very happy to welcome hostel volunteers.
Finally, thanks to Ryohei, Jamie, and Haruka for making the experience go so well. And of course, thanks to the volunteers Ana and Amber, who made my days much more enjoyable and entertaining. It was a pleasure to meet you all!

I had a really nice experience at the hostel. Ryohey, Jamie, and Haruka are all so nice; they explain the tasks in detail and try to create a sense of community. You have your own room in a house less than a 10-minute walk from the hostel. The town is quiet and friendly—just keep in mind that it's not Shibuya. It's not the place to go out partying every day; it's more about nature, small streets, and local restaurants, which are really good. You can learn about the culture and language if that's truly what you're looking for.

The city seemed small at first, but it has so much to offer. As for the work at the hostel, everything was clearly explained. The tasks weren't very hard, and most of the time we finished earlier than expected. The best part, however, was meeting Jamie, Rohey, and Haru. They are all really kind and always willing to help. They patiently answered all of my countless questions about the work, the city, and life in Japan. Working with them was an amazing experience, and I would highly recommend this opportunity to anyone. Thank you for everything.

I love the area the hostel is based in! It's very beautiful the nature feels like a breath of fresh air. It's perfect to learn more about the Japanese culture which I enjoyed! Although I was only here for a week due to an emergency I would have stayed longer, the work is very easy it's just basic housekeeping and they have sheets of paper where they show you all the steps in case you forget which helped! Thank you for the experience!

Ryohey, Jamie and Haru were kind and friendly hosts. The hostel is beautiful, small and well looked after, so the work was never too hard and always finished well within the agreed time.
Shuzenji is a peaceful town and I had a wonderful time being surrounded by the all of the amazing nature. The hosts gave me their own map of recommendations which was super helpful for exploring!
I also felt really lucky to get to stay in a house and have my own room. Thank you all so much for having me volunteer!! I'll remember my time in Shuzenji fondly forever :-)

My volunteer here in Izu was my first 2 months plan. It was my first longtime volunteer and I am glad that I took the opportunity to do it in a small village. We have really good nature, mountains and Rivers, nice places to visit and good food to try. There is everything in reach and the communication with the host was perfect. My work was easy normal tasks. U would finish in less than 3 hours. Even sometimes there would be almost no beds to make so u would need to clean the small onsen that belongs to the hostel. All in all it was a pleasure to be living here. Thank you very much!
