Program Details
The aim of Friendsheart Foundation is to improve the situation in the poor communities in the area, especially women and children, in different aspects.
-We teach them how to farm their own vegetables and take care of household animals.
-We teach children about hygiene and how to take care of their bodies. We offer them free toothbrushes, menstruation pads, etc.
-We help widows and single mothers with starting their own small businesses and stand on their own feet economically.
-We are teaching about permaculture, environmental conservation and recycling, and we try to raise the awareness about climate change.
-We give children English and computer classes, which they don’t have in their schools.
We are based in Moshi and Machame. Volunteers can choose where they want to stay. We can help with arranging daytrips around the area, safaris or Kilimanjaro hikes.
Activities & Shift
There is a lot of variation from day to day. Volunteers can teach English, computer, feminine hygiene, permaculture and farming. They can help us with website design, marketing, fundraising and give us tips on how we can improve. Volunteers can decide on what they want to do according to their preferences and interests.
