Come explore everything that the Big Easy has to offer! Our central location in the French Quarter is perfect to be in the middle of it all during your off time. While you're helping out, we've got a big beautiful building to welcome guests, answer questions, and pitch in.

You'll have access to a massive outfitted kitchen, a staff-only room, free onsite laundry, and more!

We are a diverse group already with team members from Brazil to Pakistan to Utah. We like building and growing something *together* without the drama.

Located in the heart of New Orleans just two blocks from Bourbon Street, City house hostel immerses you in local culture while providing an international hub for World traveler. Staff and management are supportive and welcoming. This experience has allowed me to cultivate interpersonal connection and friendship that will last a lifetime.

This was my first volunteering experience and I really enjoy it. The city is more than Bourbon St, there's more things to do. I enjoy the hostel, I came in a low occupancy time so the place feels very chill and relax. I was looking for a multicultural experience and I definitely found it, I met people from different countries and became good friends. The staff was respectful and friendly, I share dorm with 3 guys and I never feel uncomfortable because they were very respectful. I'm very happy that my first solo was here. Thanks to City House Hostel for having me, it was a pleasure. 🙏🏽🙏🏽

If you have thin skin.This is not the place for you. The manager and general manager have a very big lack of communication. If they did something and got in trouble for it, they would flip it around on you and make you feel like you did something wrong.
I.e. My boss came to me saying,and these are her exact words, "now I feel like a bitch because I threw everything away" I had pulled out a bunch of toiletries that looked old.(part of my duties) Also, I got wrote up for "giving false information to a trainee" I didn't know it was wrong info, I was just trying to answer her question. Overall this was a really amazing experience. I had so much fun and felt very welcomed by the hosts. The work is about 4-5 hours a day and is mostly housekeeping, and interacting with guests. The rest of the time is very open ended so you can basically do whatever you want. They have a happy hour at 7pm each night where guests receive a free beer or soda, and it is a nice chance to talk with new people. Occasionally on the weekends, there were events where staff would get to choose a bar or live music venue to take the guests to. This was a lot of fun, and I did wish there were more of these.
