The Heb Hostel is a family run hostel in the heart of the Hebrides. If you like the outdoors, wildlife and remote areas as well as chatting to travellers from all over the world, this is the place for you.
We try to treat our staff well. We believe time off and privacy is very important and do not have more than 2 staff sharing! We don't get to socialise with staff as much as we would like as we have two young children but ocasionally get involved with staff meals, bbq's etc.

My second destination in Scotland. I truly had a great time here in Stornoway. I met many wonderful volunteers and guests during my stay. The hostel is family-run. Christine was very kind and loving, always looking after us to make sure everyone is happy. Her family were all very friendly and warm.
Work was simple and fair and I really enjoyed it! The island has many beaches and I really enjoyed camping and sightseeing. I was also lucky to see one of the best traditional Scottish music festival! I had one of the best memories in this island and will definitely come back for a visit one day!

Fellow travellers, I can without a doubt recommend you guys this Hostel.
Christine, the host, was so kind and welcoming. I never felt unsafe,unwelcome or disrespected. The staff room I stayed in was beautiful and cozy. The hostel & the facilities were very nice, complete & clean. The landscapes and outdoors of the island are so grand, untouched, well-preserved. The city itself is small & charming. I really enjoyed meeting the other volunteers & the guests that came and went: a lot of hikers/cyclists/campers... some really interesting, open-minded & friendly folk. Thanks again Christine! xo

Best experience ever! Christine and her family are lovely! Always trying to make you feel at home and making plans with the staf like fishing or dinners.The staf is amazing and you really make good friends. It's like a big family. Always meeting nice people in the hostel, to go out or have a good conversation. Easy work and enought time to explore the island. It's a good oportunity to improve english. I really hope to return as soon as posible.

Traveling to Stornoway was the best experience I could have, Christine and her family are the greatest host, friendly, great communication, great friends!
The Hostel is very nice and cosy, I met people everyday even that it was low season, the work is easy and gives you time to explore the islands. Great for somebody looking for an adventure somehwere remote with beautiful landscapes and beaches
