Le Chant des Pierres

We arrived in our old farm in Dordogne near Sarlat (one of the most beautiful and famous French medieval towns) in 2018 with our 4 children and all our animals (a dog, a pig, cats, hens and ducks). We have decided to renovate the buildings in an environment and human friendly way so as to host seminars and retreats in relation with consciousness and holistic health approaches and practices. We also wish to slowly develop a permacultural vegetable garden to become self sufficient and ideally be able to provide the surroundings (but that would be on the long run!).

We speak fluent English and are all very keen on welcoming international visitors to learn from their culture and share our own. If you like nature, family life, building, gardening and challenges of all sorts you can join us in this exciting adventure! We'll be really happy to welcome you.

Since January 2020 we've welcomed over 50 volunteers and have had experiences with all of them. Their participation has made a tremendous difference for us and we are so gratuful to be getting this wonderful help!

We are 6 at home, plus all the animals and have a very busy life as we homeschool our children, renovate the buildings, learn growing vegetables and design the landscape. It's a lot of hard work and we'd be very greatful to have some help to move on better. If you are motivated, you like to work, you like nature and family life come and join us:-) We are not vegetarian, eventhough we eat little meat, but are used to welcoming vegetarian people so that is not a problem at all :-)! Please mind that we have two bedrooms and that there are two places per room so you might be sharing your room with someone else. I'm specifying this because I have just been told that our profile says the opposite and I don't know how to change that. So here is the info. Please note that WE DO NOT ASK FOR VACCINATION.

Ade and Paul are great, they are super welcoming and they treat you as one more of their family, the work is not heavy and the work hours are respected, if you enjoy to paint and build you will really like this job, food is good but most of it lacks of protein so you might want to consider bringing some protein or buying it at the supermarket in town that is like 45 minutes by walk.
The kids are so sweet and they want to play with you all the time.
This was my first volunteering program and it exceeded my expectations, I will forever be grateful with the family and I hope I can return soon.

Great experience <3
You’ll be considered and heard at all times, and they will always make sure that you are comfortable and having a good time, communication is great and easy.

This is an amazing family, Paul and Ade are very generous and kind, so are their wonderful kids.

The place is really special, it is surrounded by nature, it’s calm and wonderful, you’ll be more than comfortable.
Working hours are always respected, you’ll be guided with kindness and patience and they will always try to give you chores that you like and that you feel confident doing.

Merci :)

Amazing experience, I loved my stay. Ade, Paul and the kids are super nice and the location is so beautiful with the nature and animals around. They take good care of their worldpackers and have a good system for it. The work is not too hard and I learnt a lot of new skills! I really enjoyed this experience and can recommend!

Great experience! The hosts are nice and very generous and the accommodation is comfortable with the beds being new and supportive and the amenities providing for all basic needs. The location is beautiful and peaceful, the work can be physical but all tasks are reasonable and shared, timeframes are respected 100%. Food is great and healthy, if you like to train a lot maybe bring some extra protein powder with you but other than that it's delicious and nutritious. The dog and the orange cat are very sweet and I would highly recommend getting acquainted with them for cuddles and pats.
Cheers

Le Chant de Pierres, was an experience which I'll never forget, especially in my case due being my first worldpacker.
I'm not vegetarian, all the family is vegetarian, but I didn't mind even eating vegetarian food seven days a week, twice a day, which the taste of a french food was a just a dream, broken only in the weekend, when I used to bike around to visit and learning the most I can about the local culture.

I'd like to thank Adelaide, Paul, Aila, Côme, Batiste, Gabriel and Helios for this two months coexistence.

Et voilá, vive Le Chant de Pierres!
