An authentic experience is what makes our place special. The handicraft skills that use palm tree straws are typical of the region of Chenini, where only a few people are left with this knowledge. The volunteer will not only learn about the tradition but also be part of a dynamic local community in which several organizations collaborate in the goal to preserve the Oasis as well as the local traditions.

I am a former AIESEC member who is fond of traveling and cultural exchange. As a mother, welcoming volunteers is a great way to meet travelers from all around the world while looking after my family. Any volunteer will find a likeminded spirit and will be welcomed within the community for an immersive authentic experience.

The most amazing experience of my life. Was meant to stay a week ended up staying three and could have been even longer. Soumaya and her family are the most generous and fun people as is all the other people I met in the community. I felt settled in by the first day and got stuck in with so many different opportunities; meeting interesting people, learning about the culture, creating content and getting imagery, doing talks at school ect ect. The program is super relaxed which works perfectly if your the type of person to be up for everything and you can also cater your experience :)c ya soon

Had a beautiful time with the great host. The place is full of passion and ideas, people who strive to make tomorrow better with their own talent & visions. Lots of opportunities for volunteers to take part in— art, languages, journalism, instructing… with the host Soumaya with her broad interest and connections, you’ll have the most fun discovering your true self!

As a first experience I am more than satisfied with this volunteering, soumaya was very welcoming as well as her family and always present for the volunteers, the atmosphere was very pleasant and I recommend this host to anyone who wants to see the local community and learn more about the south of Tunisia.

The experience was absolutely great!
Soumaya introduced me to the local community, and I had the opprotunity to discover a lot about the local products, the habits, the social events, the association, the people and so on.
Tunisian people are very welcoming, open and helpful . I have never felt in danger or in unpleasant situation. She really cares about volunteers and she does her best for you to spend a good time there. I was generally with her during my stay and when she wasn't with me she always ensured that I was with someone very trustful. This experience was a great life lesson.

After a week collaborating with She is the Goal, I can only say that I wish it had been longer.
Soumaya is an amazing host and a truly inspiring person. Not only does she irradiate passion for the mission of the association but she also truly cares about the well-being and overall experience of the volunteers.
She is the Goal will teach about the importance of making an impact on your community and following your dreams.
Moreover, Tunisian people are incredibly welcoming and full of energy. A 100% recommended experience!
