Volunteering at the shelter was honestly the best thing I have ever done! Working with the animals and the staff was amazing everyone is so lovely and you feel so welcome! If you love animals and the shelter this is defo the place for you! I can't wait to volunteer at the shelter again in the future 🫶

My time at the shelter has been amazing! Met so many wonderful people and felt so welcomed the second I got here. The experience itself is very unique and if you love animals it's the experience of a lifetime! Both the staff and Thomas made sure that I had a good time and that I had everything I needed at all times. I would truly recomend this place to everyone and I really hope to be back some day! Thanks the shelter for this time!

My time at the shelter has been the best month of my life. From the staff, volunteers, animals and nature everything was perfect. Learning about and interacting with all the animals was incredible. All the staff are just like a family and were extremely welcoming and caring throughout my stay. I would highly recommend volunteering at the shelter to anyone who loves animals!

I had the most amazing time at the shelter! I met the best people (many locals and other travelers) with whom you grow really close. We did a lot of great things and learned a lot about Uganda. The hands-on experience with the animals is just something you won't find anywhere else which creates a very unique opportunity to learn and to appreciate these animals. You work in a fantastic team full of people who genuinely love all the animals and would give up anything for them. It is made sure that all of the animals have the best life possible! This is a place you won't forget!!

An Unforgettable Experience at the shelter 🌿🐾 My time at the shelter was absolutely incredible! I had the unique opportunity to work closely with wild animals, getting up close and personal with them—an experience I'll never forget. Thomas always took care of us with great affection, promptly addressing any concerns we had. The entire staff on-site showed genuine love and dedication in caring for the animals. The camaraderie among us was wonderful, filled with shared laughter and joy. I would gladly return time and again and am truly grateful for this enriching experience.

This was by far my favorite experience I have had so far. You not only get to be hands on with most of the animals but you get to learn so much in the process. The staff is so so amazing. They care so much about all the animals and are incredibly kind. Thomas is always willing to go above and beyond for everyone and is very welcoming. I can not recommend this place enough!

Great experience! Suraya, Thomas and the rest of the team were friendly and attentive. If you want to live with locals and learn about the culture I would recommend it. Although there is not much to do in Mpigi it is not a problem as you can go to Kampala which is easy to get to or do something at the shelter, you will Not Ger bored.

Foi uma experiência única em uma área rural cercada por animais. No entanto, a comida foi terrível, e normalmente apenas 2 refeições por dia eram fornecidas, em vez de 3, como eles disseram. Também seria útil ter algum tipo de orientação ou treinamento; outro voluntário me mostrou as instalações e, no primeiro dia, foi esperado que eu trabalhasse dentro das jaulas e dos estábulos dos animais, o que eu não achei ser o mais seguro sem treinamento ou instruções. A equipe não era muito acolhedora. A maioria deles não falava comigo ou parecia irritada quando eu trabalhava com eles. No geral, não foi suficiente e a comida era terrível, sem precauções de segurança, pouco acolhedor.

Eu tinha sentimentos mistos sobre a minha experiência no CTC. Quando me candidatei, imaginei que seria um projeto de conservação da vida selvagem, mas, na prática, parecia mais um zoológico particular. Ver os animais em recintos foi um pouco perturbador para mim, já que eu esperava um ambiente mais voltado para a conservação.
A acomodação e as instalações são muito básicas, o que já é conhecido com antecedência para que você possa se preparar. A comida fornecida também é muito simples; alguns dias o café da manhã era apenas um pedaço de pão, então eu recomendaria levar alguns lanches para comer com você.
