Isa is an excellent volunteer, extremely competent and responsible, as well as very organized. She helped us in many ways and was always very proactive in helping to resolve the issues that arose day by day. Our communication was a bit weak due to the fact that she doesn't use WhatsApp and I have a very busy schedule, but nothing that would influence her performance in the tasks. I just want to thank her for all the kindness, attention and care she gave to Casa Buena Vibra, Marley and Ritinha. She will always be welcome! 🤎🐾

Marley e Rita ficaram no meu coração! <3🥰

I can highly recommend Is. She goes above and beyond what I would ask of her. Isa sees what needs to be done nd does it without waiting to be asked. She works to a high standard and is conscientious. Always happy, confident and easy company. Pipoca is the most well behaved dog and you hardly know she is there.

I'm so happy I didn't give up after my first attempt to contact was expired... Eventually Andrea answered and accepted our application and that's how it started our amazing experience in Serra da Estrela. The landscape is incredible, the energy is fantastic and dealing with the goats was definitely the best part of the experience! Not to mention how wonderful was their welcome to Pipoca, she felt home so quickly with all the other animals on the farm! ♡ Thank you Andrea and all living things at the host to make us feel so comfortable during our stay there ^_^

Isa and Pipoca were fantastic companions these past days. Both quickly identified with our space and reality. Isa was always ready to collaborate, with everything there is to do. Fun, helpful and cooperative. We recommend Isa to all hosts... Pipoca is a darling, very well-mannered and very sweet. We loved having both of you with us. Come back whenever you want. Bota.Nicas is yours too ;)

The community is the perfect place for those in love with nature who are willing to help and have a good dosis of creativity. The place is still very rustic, so there is a lot to do and you are free to pick any task you fit to. The sky is the limit there =)

About me as an author

-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-. In 2016 I left the hood where I was born for what would be a sabbatical year in Europe with my dog. Today, almost 8 years later, I embrace the title of nomad (non-digital, more like an analog-nomad!), an "agriculTourist" and activist for land, territory, and food sovereignty. Since 2022 in South America, I have been visiting sites, communities and farms that practice poison-free agriculture to exchange experiences and learnings. So far, besides the experience in about a hundred sites in Europe, I've been trying to lead my journey through the different biomes in South America. I do whatever it takes to stay away from urban centers and from initiatives that do not reflect class consciousness and social inequality in their day-to-day practices.

Background

Education

Well, I do have one or two diplomas and a bunch of certificates archived, but they define me very little, to be honest. In all these years of nomadic life, academic knowledge has been one of the least useful, and if you need to know a lot about them, I suggest you check my LinkedIn page, since there I better embody the "academic Isa" (which, by the way, I’m quite proud of, you know? It’s just that here, at Worldpackers, I prefer not to be defined by my diplomas (-; )

Work experience

So, again, how about taking a look at my LinkedIn? ;-P

My life experience has led me to redefine the word WORK in a quite interesting way. What gives me work today (that is, the things I devote the majority of my life energy to) are projects that don't financially sustain me, and don't need to be that way. It’s hard work to think about where I’ll set up my camping tent each night, it’s hard to be a woman traveling alone in this world. It’s hard to choose battles in a reality that is sometimes apocalyptic, and it’s in this that I put most of my strength.

Then, to make some money—which from time to time is necessary—I carry out various tasks that range from mowing a garden or cleaning bathrooms to more "elaborate" gigs, which are described there on my LinkedIn, since here at Worldpackers this isn’t about those gigs I want to talk about. =]

Travel experience

Back in 2016 I left the neighborhood where I was born to travel with my dog for a year across Europe, initially by train and hitchhiking and whatever else was possible with a big and elderly dog. Upon arriving in Germany, the 'possible' that presented itself was a bike. The most feasible route was through rural areas. And what was supposed to be the last year of that old dog's life multiplied by five, so we kept pedaling through Germany, Austria, Italy, Spain, Portugal... 15 thousand kilometers, always through farms and organic estates.

After Pipoca left, I kept going a bit further through Europe: Poland, the Czech Republic, France and the Netherlands. Until finally resuming my South American journey, already understanding myself better as the Latina woman I am.

Back in Brazil since 2022, I guide the journey through biomes, and I want to see and learn about different agricultures, campesinatos, cuisines, ecosystems, fauna, and folklore.

Other volunteer experiences

I have references on HelpX, Nomador and Trustroots. Several Couchsurfing experiences ended up becoming what I call CouchWWOOFing, since I would go to stay for one or two nights with people from rural areas and ended up staying for weeks helping with field work. It’s worth checking my profile there, as well as on Couchers, Warmshowers and BeWelcome. Finally, I did so much WWOOFing in this life that I ended up being hired by the organization, and today I hold a nice role in the Federation. But again, this is a LinkedIn topic, not Worldpackers, hehe...
