Kate is a young friendly girl with a good attitude at any time. She helped our project teaching English to local kids and adults. She was very patient with the students and made a good connection with them. She was very helpful and always willing to help. We are happy that she was part of our team in Puerto Inca. We recommend her 100%.

This project has great potential but it still has a while to go until it's actually what is advertised. I had a great time here as I met some great people and enjoyed the day trips with Neyer. However, organisation needs to be massively improved. There is no guidance of structure for the English lessons with the locals. Most of the volunteers have never taught before and there's no structure to the lessons, meaning that they're not as impactful as they could be. Also you only teach for 9 hours a week, so you have A LOT of free time.

Background

Education

I studied Maths, Geography and Economics whilst at school. I then continued my education through an apprenticeship where I gained a qualification as a Management Consultant.

Work experience

I've had a variety of jobs, including working in a cafe and a supermarket. After leaving school, I joined a company called PwC and have worked as a Management Consultant for 2.5 years. Alongside this job, I am also the content manager and writer for the travel website Gecko Routes.

Travel experience

After my first trip to Indonesia when I was 18, I fell in love with travelling. This is what led me to take a 2 year career break from my job. I've been travelling for the past year and intend to continue travelling for another year. I've spent my trip in Central and South America, plus Europe.
