Experience in Peru

Night Shift, Housekeeping, Administration, and Reception

A very bad experience with this volunteer; his attitude leaves a lot to be desired—very rude and arrogant. He was treated with a lot of kindness; I do not recommend him. My sincere apologies, but this guy was not very helpful and, above all, ungrateful; he left without saying thank you!!!!

Positive about the room: it was quite comfortable and had a bathroom. Negative: organization, reliability, facilities (bad internet—sometimes there was no water, power or gas) and the owner never took responsibility. He accepted reservations and would message you at any time, he thought we were online 24 hours. He told us he would bring us food for one more hour of work and it took 1 week (my volunteer was for 2 weeks). We told him that the gas was running out and he said there was still some left and the day it ended he left us a day and a half without being able to cook because he didn\'t want to pay 15 soles more. - the group and the town were great🫡

Our experience was quite good; it has a fully equipped kitchen, the beds were comfortable, the working hours were always respected, luckily we got a fabulous group of volunteers and our stay, to be honest, was short, 12 days in total. In those days everything was excellent. If you have any questions before applying for this volunteering opportunity, you can talk to us and ask us questions without any problems♥

About me as an author

https://https://sergbaez92.wixsite.com/viajando

Hi, I'm Sergio Báez Oliveira 🌎✈️ . Instagram: sergiobaez18 . I was born in Paraguay and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina, which allowed me to experience cultures, landscapes, and different foods from a young age. Since I was 21, I began exploring the world on my own, and discovered that traveling wasn't just a passion... it's my lifestyle. I love connecting with people from different places, learning new skills, and sharing experiences like talking at sunset, playing games, laughing, and exchanging information with other travelers. This year, I'm still looking for new adventures and hope to add unique moments to the Worldpackers community. Always with my backpack ready, a smile on my face, and a desire to contribute to every project. 🙌✨

Background

Education

I graduated from technical school with a degree in computing.
I've always been passionate about learning the things I enjoy, which is why I focus on traveling and art.

Work experience

Hello! I'm Sergio, a multifaceted traveler and worker.
Throughout my life, I've explored different jobs and cultures, always with responsibility, a desire to learn, and a desire to continue growing.

My experience is varied:

Advertising and web design (5 years) → creation of products, websites, and visual content.

Hostel management (Mendoza, Argentina, 2022-2023) → recruitment and training of volunteers, inventory control, reception, and tour sales.

While traveling in Brazil, I had to find a new career and became a waiter.

Hospitality and gastronomy → waiter in restaurants, hotels, and inns in Brazil, Argentina, and Paraguay.

Marketing and communications → tour sales, menu creation in three languages (English, Portuguese, and Spanish), advertising photography, and social media.

I love working in a team, adapting to new environments, and contributing my energy and creativity to each project. 🌍✨

Travel experience

My first solo trip was at 21, where I spent a month in Europe.
Until I was 25, I traveled on vacation. I was able to travel to Europe again, passing through Colombia, Paraguay, and some cities in Argentina.
At 25, I decided to leave my hometown, Buenos Aires, and spent a year and a half in Mendoza, a small capital in Argentina (home to South America's highest mountain, Mount Aconcagua).
I started as a volunteer and ended up managing a hostel.
Then, I traveled to Brazil for three years with my girlfriend, during which time we volunteered, rented houses, and worked during the winter and summer seasons.

We arrived in Europe in September and we were travelling around London, Paris, Milan, Venice, Switzerland, and Croatia.

This time we were working in Andorra at ski stations. Our jobs end in April so we would love to travel again. Japan has been my dream since I was a child and I would love to spend time with local people and meet their amazing culture and food.

In summary I was lucky enough to go through these cities:
Buenos Aires, Santa Fe, Mendoza, San Juan, Chaco, Posadas, Puerto de Iguazu (ARGENTINA).
Encarnacion, Asuncion (PARAGUAY)
Barcelona, London, Parisx2, Ghent, Brussels, Amsterdamx2, Munich, Berlin, Prague, Rome ( EUROPE )
Santa Marta, Cartagena, Bogota (COLOMBIA)
Caraguatatuba, São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Cabo frio, Arraial do Cabo, Ouro Preto, Itacare, Morro de São Paulo, Maceio, Maragogi, Porto de Galinhas, Recife, Pipa, Natal, Foz do Iguaçu (BRAZIL)

Other volunteer experiences

At Worldpackers, I worked at Mora Hostel, Mendoza.
Bamboo Hostel - Rio de Janeiro
4 Estaçãos - Arraial do Cabo
Varandas - Ouro Preto.
Galinha da Angola - Porto de Galinhas
