Avalon Resort

Our volunteers describe this place as a paradise found. Beautiful grounds and properties in unspoilt natural surroundings but with the town only 15 minutes walk away where all provisions and facilities including a good cinema can be found.

This is a family owned, built and run resort. It's a lifestyle business for them for the last 12 years. Here Bette and Willem have raised their 4 children and now they are grown and left home. Volunteers have become the new family and we like to treat them as such. Here is not hard work but is time dependent as we have guests to think of. Otherwise volunteers are free to enjoy the pool, spa and sauna, kayaks etc.,

I would really recommend this experience at Avalon!

The activities that I helped out with were kind of repetitive, but they were short on staff (which is very seldom) so I understand. However, they always got extra help so that my hours and days off were as agreed; they were very considerate, making sure I felt comfortable with my activities.

Kerikeri is a nice town, with friendly people- and also the surroundings. My fellow helpers,the staff and the family were lovely (thanks for everything!).

I had a great time and look back very fondly to my days with them!!

Not enough words to describe how great this experience was. We were 3 volunteers, a north american couple plus a Brazilian (me). The work was very easy, and exactly as agreed beforehand. In my opinion what stands out about this resort is the great atmosphere along with lovely surrounding nature . Willen and Bety are great and very respectful. Bety had me over for dinner a few times and she has a great personality she's very welcoming, taking me to beautiful walks around Kerikeri. Willen is a very unique guy, funny and friendly, he took me to eat out in a nice restaurant in town.. THANK YOU
